Reluctantly, Ren finally nodded, hearing his words, and gave Earl one last glance before limping off outside the room.
However, once he was gone, the deafening silence of the room seemed to swallow Earl whole.
Slowly getting up from the bed, he locked the door behind him and collapsed onto his bed.
Though he closed his eyes, expecting to fall asleep instantly, he was still awake despite battling his exhaustion.
His mind was a chaotic mess of overthinking by then.
The nurse's terrifying warning about his changing blood state, peeking glances at the mysterious glass vial of suppressants sitting on his nightstand, and the lingering phantom memory of Edward's words about his scent all swirled in his head.
The air in his room suddenly felt incredibly suffocating.
'I need some air, ' Earl thought, rubbing his temples as he stepped down from the bed once again. 'Maybe taking a stroll outside would help me calm my nerves down.'
