For a second, Earl stood frozen, hearing an unfamiliar omega's harsh shout that rang in his ears like a physical blow.
The way he was glaring at him with contempt made it uneasy for Earl to apprehend why he was getting lashed out instead when all he did was to step in to protect that injured omega boy from the bullies.
"What—"
"I said, stay away from us!"
The taller boy growled once again, but the raw hostility in his tone caught Earl completely off guard.
He frowned with his pulse thundering in his ears when he almost forced his voice to sound at ease, "Relax, I was only trying to help him. His injury looks bad, and I was about to take him to the nurse."
"I know the likes of you very well."
Another boy chimed in, narrowing his frigid gaze on Earl, who couldn't help but stare blankly in utmost confusion, "You want to portray us all in the bad picture while you're the one who's causing a mess!"
