Chapter 5 THE SELECTION 3
The Hall was silent with all eyes fixed on Lan, who was being gripped on the shirt by Barron. His legs dangled above the floor and eyes wide open in fright.
"What exactly was that, brat!" Barron growled, his teeth revealing. The scare across his face made him look like a demon from hell, if not the devil himself.
"I...I lost c... control of my b....beast sir" Lan gulped "It wasn't intentional, it happens few and I don't know why"
Among Lan, Bryon and Billy, Lan was more stronger, but not skilled. His spirit beast was also bigger than theirs, but having a spirit beast doesn't mean having control when they awaken. Most beast masters had to literally battle with their beast, beating it into submission.
Barron let go of Lans shirt and he dropped to the floor. He hurriedly rushed back to the line.
"Nice way to show off in front of everyone"
Bryon chuckled.
Lan cast a death glare but said nothing.
"Next!!"
The next person to step up was the only girl in the group. Sylver was really short and small with long silver white hair and an aloof expression on her cute face. She barely smiles, no, wait, scratch that one out, she never smiles and barely speak. One barely recognizes her presence even if she there, like being invisible in plane sight.
Barron gazed upon her with one brow raised, he was just realizing that she has been standing there since the beginning of the Selection.
Sylver raised her eyes to meet his gaze, then a silver shield suddenly appeared and strapped to her right hand.
The crowed gasped as they stared at the shield which beamed with energy.
"A spirit weapon" Wifred gasped "You have to have at least three spirit cores to be able to summon it. And she's so young." He smiled "Hello little monster"
Barron was surprised if not impressed, but he did well to hide it with his frown.
The shield was circular with an obvious sharp ends and visible intricate patterns which makes it look like that of a turtle's shell.
The silver energy surged around her and a large turtle appeared above her being.
"Wow" Lan eyes beamed "Does she lives in this village, she is amazing, and cute"
Bryon stared at him with brows raised while Billy scoffed.
"Trust me dude, you don't wanna get on her bad side" Bryon shivered remembering a certain memory.
Sylver walked back to the line and all eyes fall on the last participant.
Timmy failed in controling his fear, he was visibly shaking and frightened. He slowly stepped out causing Barron to groan audibly.
"I don't waste time on scared brats, brat"
Timmy struggled to gather his spirit energy, but when he finally did, he summoned his spirit beast.
"A little bird?" Wifred shoulder dropped.
Indeed it was a bird, barely bigger than the size of a palm.
Barron shoulders dropped.
Visible energy slowly sipped, through his head, his eyes darkening.
"WHAT?"
He burst out but before he could do anything, Wifred appeared in front of him.
"Ok, Barron, I'll take it from here" He patted on Barrons shoulder before turning to the
kids.
"You four are coming with us"
He announced earning an applause from the crowd.
"Yes!" Lan jumped "I'm gonna be a knight "
"Let's hope you survive long enough" Billy scoffed
"Lighten up bro, you're not far from being like sir Barron" Bryon said but earned no response.
Wifred walked towards Timmy "Don't worry kid" he said "Sometimes, spirit beast evolves, but it depends entirely on the master. Its possible for your little bird to evolve into a mighty eagle, but you have to work hard and be determined for it to happen, ok?" Wifred assured with a tap on Timmy's head.
"No more wasting time" Barron ordered "take no belongings with you, we leave now!" He turned to leave.
"Really, no saying good bye to our parents, not fair" Lan complained
"Come on, we know what we signed up for in the first place" Bryon said.
Just as they were about to turn to leave, a boy with red hair suddenly arrived.
"WAIT!"
They all turned to see Roman, who was out of breath.
Billy frown deepened.
