Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 MOTHER

Chapter 7

MOTHER

Reyna had choose to live in the furthest part of Hilltown, away from the residental areas.

Ten years ago when she first arrived, looking tattered and rough, with a baby in her arms, she had saved the life of some villagers in the forest.

They were trying to escape from a higher level danger beast which had them connered.

The town head, Chief Marcus led a group of five men clad in heavy armors, to ambush some certain group of danger beasts due to multiple complains.

They had delved deeper into the forest than intended.

They succeeded in ambushing and killing the danger beasts, but their luck ran out when an advanced ranked beast appeared. They were not ready for such horror at all, and to add their misfortune, they were spent of energy and tired. Also, Chief Marcus was the only beast master among them, but he wasn't strong enough, so they ran.

The beast chased after them relentlessly until they were backed upon a wall. With no choice left, they had to fight.

Just as the beast was about to pounce upon them, Reyna suddenly appeared and with one hand glowing dangerously, she spilt the beast in half, killing it on the spot.

Marcus and his men were stunned.

A woman with stunning beauty and snow white hair had defended them. She was blooded and tattered looking , so Marcus offered her shelter in his village. She accepted of course, but chose to live away from the residents. Some weeks later, the beautiful cottage was built for her and she made it her home. The forest incident was kept secret from the villagers and mostly the guards from the Kingdom.

Reyna knocked on Roman's door before walking in. She took slow steps towards him, who was currently sloped over the bed like a sick puppy.

"Hello my little tiger"

She smiled and sat on the bed

"I'm no tiger mom"

He muttered then cover his face with the pillow.

"I heard what happened from Chief Marcus, you tried your best"

She assured him

"My best wasn't enough, I'm still so weak, and I don't even know if I'll ever awaken" His voice sounded from under the pillow.

"Well I'm glad you didn't get picked" she said.

Roman suddenly jerked up and started at her with widen eyes

"MOM!"

"What, I meant what I said" she simply shrugged then stood, leaving her son lost of words.

"Freshen up, eat up, then meet me in the garden, I want to show you something" she walked towards the door and added "don't keep your mother waiting" Reyna smiled before leaving.

Roman breathed out, slowly. He stood up and head to the bathroom.

***********

It was a full moon tonight.

The moon shone like it has never done casting it eatheral glow upon the garden at the back of the cottage. Reyna stood in the center of the garden enjoying the soft wind as it pampered her fair skin, her long snow white hair softly dance to the tune of the wind. She was clad in a white floral gown which absorbed the moon's glow and doing justice to her beauty while the flowers of the garden dance, as if enchanted by her beauty. She looked like a goddess who just descended from her realm.

Roman beamed with smiles as he gazed at his mom from behind.

"Wow mom you're breathtaking!"

Reyna turn to see her son who just arrived at the garden. She opened her arms, beconing on him to come.

Roman dashed with full speed and jumped into his mother's embrace.

She was tall, so carrying him wasn't a hard.

"You're cute yourself by boy"

They stayed in each other's embrace for a while before Roman looked up.

"I wish I had white hair like yours mom. My hair color is the complete opposite of yours" He pouted.

Reyna smiled

"Well you look very much like your father Roman"

Roman's eyes widen

"My father?"

"Hmmm" she nodded

"But..." He hesitated "you've never talked about dad, not once" his face dropped.

Reyna chuckled "Did you ever asked?"

"Was I supposed to?" He raised his brow "you never mentioned him so I thought it was a memory you didn't want to remember"

"Look at my little boy, already thinking like a gentleman" Reyna laughed as she placed him down.

"I even have questions that I decided not to ask cause I want you to be ready first" he added

"Well, ask now " she smiled

Roman thought for a while, but decided on the question he felt was more important.

"Who is my father?"

Reyna stared into the sky with a soft smile, remembering a distant memory.

She looked down on her son and her eyes glowed, pure white aura emitted from her body in waves and it rose above her head.

Then a large spirit beast appeared, towering above the cottage and stared down at Roman, who had already backed away in shock.

It was a white tiger spirit.

The tiger purred as it lowered its head to receive a soft scratch from Reyna.

"I haven't let you out in long while have I" Reyna smiled.

The tiger purred in response.

Roman finally found his voice

"What is that?!!"

He exclaimed

"This is my white tiger spirit, I call her Snow. We've conquered many battles together" Reyna replied "I told you that you were a little tiger. Just like your father, it will take a while before you awaken, but you surely will"

She paused for a while before continuing

"You're father was the strongest and bravest man I've ever met, he was a warrior"

"So, where is he, what happened to him?"

Roman slowly said.

"Sadly, he risked his life to help us escape when you were just born"

"Escaped, from who?"

His curiosity peaked

Reyna looked at him, then shaked her head

"When you are strong enough Roman, I'll tell you the story, for now, you need to leave"

"Leave, what do you mean?"

"It's time for you to go on your journey, my son. Grow stronger, and when the time is right, I'll come find you"

Reyna reached into her gown and brought out an item. It was a dagger with a rectangular hilt and shelt, and intricate patterns of a certain beast.

"Your father made it himself a day to your birth. I was made form the crystal of a really high ranked danger beast. You'll get use to it perks soon"

He slowly took it from her and studied it

"So dad was also a weapon craftsman. Noted. I'll learn crafting too, you'll see"

Reyna laughed then trapped him in another embrace.

"Take care my boy, don't forget all I thought you about hunting, I trust you'll handle it fine"

"I won't mom"

She let go of him, then pointed at the distant

"Follow this path and keep going straight, till you get to the devil's mountain"

"The what?"

"You'll know if when you see it. It's a week journey from here, you best be going now son. Don't stray of course"

"Alright mom, I'll make you proud, I promise"

He assured.

Roman stared at the tiger spirit and waved.

"Bye Snow, take care of my mom okay?"

The beast growled in response.

Turning around, Roman channeled spirit energy into his legs and dashed off with intense speed

Reyna smiled as she watched him go.

"Take care, my little tiger"
