The corridor was silent.
But the silence didn't last long.
The Ghoul Brute took a heavy step forward.
THUD
The floor trembled.
Lucas's throat went dry.
"That thing…"
"…is huge."
The creature tilted its head.
Its yellow eyes locked onto Kaelion.
Then it suddenly roared.
GRAAAAAH
Lucas flinched.
"Damn it!"
The Ghoul Brute lunged forward.
It was faster than expected.
Predator Instinct screamed inside Kaelion's mind.
Right!
Kaelion jumped to the side.
A second later the massive claw slammed into the ground.
Concrete cracked.
Lucas's eyes widened.
"That thing… broke the floor!"
The Ghoul Brute turned again.
This time its target was Lucas.
Lucas raised the pipe.
"Come on then!"
The creature swung its claw.
Lucas tried to block with the pipe.
The metal pipe vibrated violently.
Lucas's arms shook.
The impact threw him into the wall.
Lucas collapsed to the floor.
He barely managed to keep hold of the pipe.
"That… thing is too strong…"
Kaelion saw his chance.
He lunged forward.
His knife flashed.
The blade cut across the Ghoul Brute's arm.
Black blood splattered.
But the creature only turned its head.
As if it hadn't felt the pain at all.
Lucas shouted,
"Kaelion, watch out!"
The Ghoul Brute suddenly spun.
Its claw came down toward Kaelion.
Predator Instinct warned again.
Danger!
Kaelion jumped back.
The claw sliced through the air.
Then slammed into the wall.
Part of the wall shattered.
Lucas stared in shock.
"That thing is insanely strong!"
The Ghoul Brute attacked again.
This time it was faster.
Kaelion stepped aside.
Then attacked again.
But this time his target was different.
The knee.
The knife drove into the creature's knee.
THUK
The Ghoul Brute growled.
It stepped back.
Lucas saw the opportunity.
"Now!"
He raised the pipe.
And swung with all his strength.
The metal pipe smashed into the creature's head.
The monster staggered.
But it didn't fall.
The Ghoul Brute roared in fury.
Then lunged toward Lucas.
Lucas's face went pale.
"Oh—damn—"
Predator Instinct screamed again.
Kaelion moved.
He rushed forward.
Stepping in front of Lucas.
His knife slashed again.
A new wound opened across the creature's chest.
But the Ghoul Brute didn't stop.
It swung its massive arm.
BOOM
Kaelion was thrown across the floor.
His back slammed into the ground.
The air was knocked out of his lungs.
Lucas shouted,
"Kaelion!"
The Ghoul Brute slowly approached Kaelion.
Its massive shadow filled the corridor.
Predator Instinct screamed.
Kaelion gritted his teeth.
He forced himself to stand.
He raised his knife again.
"Not…"
"…over yet."
The Ghoul Brute prepared to attack again.
And this fight…
had only just begun.
