The claw burst through the portal.
It slammed onto the arena floor with a thunderous crash.
The ground cracked beneath its weight.
Kael stumbled backward.
"That is definitely not supposed to be there."
Nyra's blade was already drawn.
"Close the gate!" she shouted.
Kael tried.
The symbol on his hand burned brightly as he focused on the portal.
But the creature forced its way through before the gate could close.
A massive beast stepped into the arena.
Its body was covered in dark armor-like scales.
Glowing red veins pulsed across its skin.
Its eyes burned like flames.
Nyra's voice turned cold.
"Chaos beast."
The monster roared.
The sound shook the walls of the arena.
Guards across the city began rushing toward the noise.
The beast charged toward Kael.
Nyra moved first.
Her blade flashed through the air as she struck the creature's side.
The attack slowed it—but didn't stop it.
Kael raised his hand.
The symbol glowed bright blue.
A portal snapped open in front of the charging beast.
The creature slammed into the gate.
Another portal appeared above the arena.
The beast fell through it and crashed down from above.
Stone shattered across the ground.
The creature staggered.
Nyra looked at Kael.
"Good thinking."
But the monster rose again.
Stronger.
Angrier.
Its glowing eyes locked onto Kael.
Then something unexpected happened.
The symbol on Kael's hand changed.
The blue light turned brighter than ever before.
Nyra stared in shock.
"The Realmwalker's power…"
Kael looked down at his hand.
"What's happening now?"
