"Or we'll shoot her!"
Over the roar of the helicopter's propellers, Alaric Davenport could barely hear what they were shouting at him.
He saw them all raise their guns; of the four, only one was aimed at him.
Rosalind Lowell glanced back at the helicopter, then turned to face them with a faint smile.
Her stunning smile left everyone on the rooftop dumbfounded.
She leaped. Before the stunned onlookers could even react, she had vanished from sight.
"Madam!"
As Rosalind Lowell fell, a powerful force caught her.
She landed in a familiar embrace and whispered, "Alaric..."
"Weren't you afraid you'd fall to your death?"
"Nope," Rosalind Lowell said, grinning at him. "You told me to always trust you, no matter what. And I do."
A warmth spread through Alaric Davenport's heart, and he gave her a kiss.
He truly would risk his life to protect her. He had also made thorough preparations, setting up an inflatable cushion below. Even if he failed to catch her, there was a safety net.
