Just then, Crystal came pattering over to them, climbed onto a chair, and gave Alaric Davenport a kiss. "Crystal still loves Daddy."
Kael Davenport then walked over and sat down beside him.
"And what's your reason?" He had thought this tactic wouldn't work on Kael Davenport, which honestly surprised him.
"I don't want Mom to have to work so hard anymore."
Alaric Davenport flicked Kael Davenport's forehead. "It was a joke, silly."
Kael Davenport rubbed his head. Far from getting angry at being fooled, he just looked at the two of them with great seriousness.
Rosalind thought back to how Kael had been an unplanned pregnancy. 'But now,' she mused, 'I see that my two children are the very color of my life. I can't be without either of them.'
