Kael Davenport said nothing, only taking his hand. Alaric instantly felt a sliver of comfort.
'Rosalind Lowell... Thank God she at least left me Kael. Otherwise, what hope would I have of ever keeping her?'
He crouched down and picked up Kael Davenport. "Go with her. Our future happiness is all on you now."
Kael Davenport gave a rare nod.
He caught up to them. Rosalind Lowell watched as he put Kael down. "He wants to go with you. Take him with you."
Although Kael Davenport had agreed to come, he was, after all, not "familiar" with her and grew uncharacteristically timid.
Rosalind Lowell looked at the little face, so like Alaric Davenport's, and her heart clenched. 'Looking at Kael,' she thought, 'I'll probably always be reminded of him.'
She crouched down and said gently, "Sweetheart, go with your father. I don't have time, I have to find Crystal."
"Why can't you search with him? I'll have my men search with you."
Rosalind Lowell pursed her lips. "I don't need your help."
