Chloe gave her a look that was both complex and surprised. After a moment of consideration, she smiled. "Miss Lowell, you're always full of surprises. Since we're acquainted, please, come in."
Rosalind Lowell nodded, took a deep breath, and gave Chloe a slight bow.
Because she was in a wheelchair, the gesture was subtle, but Chloe noticed it. She smiled and said, "There's no need to be so formal. Thank you for looking after my parents, and for saving my father today. I'm truly grateful."
Rosalind Lowell shook her head. "Mrs. Cook has also helped me a great deal."
"Oh, so Mrs. Davenport was looking for my daughter. I thought you couldn't find Mr. Davenport and had come back."
Rosalind Lowell shook her head. "No, that's not it."
"You and your husband have such a good relationship. Unlike my daughter, who only knows how to work."
At these words, Chloe's expression fell.
"You should bring your baby to see me next time," Chloe said warmly.
