Rosalind Lowell smiled faintly and answered in all seriousness, "No, I trust you."
Alaric Davenport gently squeezed her soft cheek. "Good thing I didn't betray your trust, then."
"That's more a testament to your stamina, Mr. CEO."
Alaric Davenport drew a deep breath. "Even the strongest body can't withstand that kind of torment."
"Why did you have that kind of reaction? This is Young Mr. Lowell's place. If something happened, wouldn't he be the one primarily responsible?"
Alaric Davenport frowned instinctively when he heard this. He hadn't forgotten what just happened. Even though it didn't go any further, he still felt he'd wronged her and was worried she might become too distraught.
