"Dad, I've gathered some of the money we discussed, so I brought it over."
Herman Lowell finally gave her a proper look. "You could have just transferred it to me. No need to make a special trip."
Rosalind Lowell maintained a faint smile. "Alaric also asked me to bring some special things for you, so I decided to come in person."
"Where are they?"
"They're still in the trunk."
Yvonne Carter looked at Rosalind. "Honestly, dear. Bringing back nice things and keeping them hidden. Why didn't you bring them out sooner?"
"I was just so excited to be home that it slipped my mind. It's all for you and Dad anyway, so a little delay doesn't matter, right?"
Rosalind watched them eat. Herman's phone was in the living room. 'How am I going to get my hands on it?'
Herman didn't have a habit of keeping his phone on him. Since they hadn't made any food for her, Rosalind could only stand by the dining table. They hadn't invited her to join them, either.
