"Even with that connection, you don't have to become his guardian. Raising a child is no small matter, especially one who's so independent," Jensen Morrison advised.
"But if I don't take him in, he'll have to go back to the orphanage. The poor kid has been through enough, so I'll just bring him home. He's not that little anyway. I'll send him to Grandpa's and have Auntie Orchid look after him. Consider it a favor for Rose Cheney."
Jensen Morrison thought for a moment. Having a child around to keep the old man company wouldn't be a bad idea. He nodded in agreement. "Alright, then."
The two of them returned to the police station. After a mountain of complicated paperwork and signing several documents, they finally emerged with the boy, Danny.
As Officer Lawson saw the three of them out, he said, "Until the official adoption papers are finalized, it's best you don't leave the city. Our people will also be checking in on the boy's condition periodically."
