On the lawn by Erhai, Bai Weiwei sang two songs before giving up the "stage." She sat on a small stool, hugging her knees and smiling as she watched the simple "party" scene.
The scene was truly simple. There was nothing but two microphones and a speaker—sponsored by her own family, it was actually her mom's equipment for square dancing.
Other than that, there were just small stools, beer, baijiu, foreign liquor, red wine...
But they were going absolutely wild.
As a member of an ethnic minority skilled in singing and dancing, Bai Weiwei could do both, and at a high level. She would dance during gatherings with friends and family, as well as during the Torch Festival. But she had truly never seen a scene like this before, a mix of traditional and modern, with a crowd writhing about like they were at a wild outdoor rave.
For a moment, she didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
And...
'Lin Chu's butt... he's really shaking it. He's like a big male monkey in heat.'
