Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Wife, Are You Going to Marry a Sixth One?

Feldman's eyes narrowed. He suddenly found he couldn't quite figure out the Shi Li before him.

Before, he thought Shi Li was easy to understand—just a rebellious little girl who loved to compare herself to others in every way.

He enjoyed being able to control Shi Li's emotions at will. A single small gesture was all it took to make her unable to eat or sleep.

But now, the Shi Li before him kept muttering about that good-for-nothing brother of hers, which truly annoyed Feldman.

"What nonsense are you talking about? Weren't those the sweet nothings we once promised each other?" Feldman pressed closer, refusing to believe someone could change so much overnight.

"We argued and threw tantrums. I admit there was an element of comparison in my marrying He Bai Bai. After all, her family's title is higher than yours, isn't it?"

"But that doesn't have to stop us from rekindling our romance, right? You said so yourself." His knuckles gently brushed against Shi Li's delicate cheek. Feldman looked at her, a little mesmerized.

He had to admit, compared to the bland He Bai Bai, the alluring Shi Li before him was far more attractive, even just by her looks.

Perhaps during his marriage, he had already grown tired of He Bai Bai.

"What's so great about my brother? He's just an ignorant and useless piece of trash. Before he got married, he couldn't hold any position, and after, all he did was cause trouble at home. He even dared to hit his own Female Master."

"Why do you keep bringing him up? Why not look at me instead?" The Royal Family only had two Princes in this generation, Feldman and Jensen, so naturally, Feldman compared himself to Jensen in everything.

When he learned the Queen intended to marry Jensen to Shi Li, not only did Feldman not fight for her, but he also turned around and seduced He Bai Bai, whose family held a higher title.

SLAP!

The crisp sound of a slap echoed throughout the hospital room.

Feldman clutched his cheek, his face a mask of shock.

"Get your filthy hands off me!"

"Flirting with other females behind your wife's back? You're truly shameless. For what you've done today alone, I could have you thrown in jail." Shi Li finally couldn't take it anymore. She found the man before her utterly disgusting.

'And here I thought the original owner's White Moonlight was some kind of saint. Turns out he's just a lunatic controlled by jealousy.'

Shi Li scrubbed the back of her hand across the cheek Feldman had touched, feeling utterly disgusted.

She yanked open the door to the room, only to walk straight into a solid chest.

So solid, in fact, that Shi Li felt the soft flesh of her cheek practically bounce.

"Hm?" Shi Li looked up in confusion and saw Heige's somewhat gloomy face.

"Who's in there? We've only been married a few days, and my wife is already planning to take a sixth husband?" Heige was still holding his military dress coat. He hadn't even had time to change out of his uniform, rushing over the moment he got the news. But as soon as he reached the door, he heard another man's voice from inside the room.

In that instant, he felt like a clown being played for a fool.

'And here I thought Shi Li needed me. Turns out my wife is the type to flirt around even while hospitalized.'

Originally, Heige hadn't expected Shi Li to be a respectable person. After all, the matter of the Beast Husbands in her household was already public knowledge.

He had only gone through with it because he couldn't refuse the marriage.

But after this morning's events, when Shi Li had allowed him to return to his post, he had been a bit dazed. He'd even started to think the rumors were false. Looking at the situation now, it seemed they were all true.

A strange agitation vexed Heige.

"What are you doing here?" Shi Li was still out of it, completely oblivious to the fact that the Heige before her was already angry.

"Got off work. Just stopping by to see if you've kicked the bucket yet." Heige's tone was cold, but his body remained planted in place, projecting an air that said he absolutely had to see who the adulterer inside was.

'Got off work?' Shi Li was a bit dazed. She reached out and activated her terminal, discovering it was already evening.

"It really is after work. I can't believe I slept that long. Do you know where they took Jensen?" Shi Li grabbed Heige's arm. To her, this place was completely unfamiliar.

The original owner wasn't one for going out. She usually either stayed in her own villa or at He Bai Bai's.

"You still haven't answered my question." Heige clamped a hand on the small of Shi Li's back, pulling her closer against him.

"Well, look who it is. Admiral, long time no see." Just as Shi Li was wondering how to explain the person in the room, that shameless Feldman opened the door himself.

The two men squared off immediately.

"Indeed, Grand Justice. The last time we met was at the trial for that interstellar criminal, wasn't it?" Heige's smile, which didn't reach his eyes, made Shi Li's scalp tingle. 'I really picked a bad day to go out.'

"Yes, it was. If you have time today, perhaps we could get together for a bit?" Feldman naturally noticed Heige's displeasure but paid it no mind. 'He's just some hot-headed brat who got promoted so quickly by relying on his guts to earn military honors. How could he possibly compare to someone with my family background?'

Especially now, with Shi Li standing between them.

"Shouldn't the Grand Justice be accompanying his own Female Master? My Female Master is ill. I need to take her home to rest and recover."

"I have no time to be gallivanting around with you." Heige hadn't heard everything they said earlier, but he'd heard enough to know that Feldman had ulterior motives regarding Shi Li.

"I asked the doctor when I arrived. He said you could go home to recuperate. Your good friend seems to have some other ideas about that doctor—they were having a very pleasant chat, so she told us to go home first." With that, Heige bent down and swept Shi Li up into his arms.

Feldman was left reeling in confusion. It wasn't until their figures had disappeared from sight that he realized what He Bai Bai might be up to in the doctor's office. He hurriedly ran toward it.

"So where on earth did Jensen go? He didn't attack me on purp—HISS!" Before Shi Li could finish her sentence, she was tossed into the passenger seat.

Shi Li rubbed her aching lower back. 'That wolf pup was ruthless! He really just threw me!'

"He won't die. But if you keep muttering his name, I can't say for sure." Heige was so annoyed he felt like he was about to explode. He had been the one to rush over anxiously to see Shi Li, but this blockhead kept going on about another man.

She paid no mind to how anxiously he had rushed to see her.

'Is it true? The more you take the initiative, the less you're valued?'

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. The pressure in the car was so low that Shi Li didn't dare say another word.

After all, Heige worked for the military and had jurisdiction over prisons. For all she knew, Jensen really was locked up right now.

'If I piss Heige off, Jensen might actually die!'

The car's interior lights were off. Heige glanced unintentionally at the little white ball of fluff beside him and couldn't help but recall the feeling of Shi Li bumping into his chest.

'Females are so soft.' When he had held Shi Li earlier, Heige had even worried that his calloused hands might chafe her skin.

Unbelievably soft, as if he could easily roll Shi Li into a small ball.

"No, no, no! You don't have to carry me! I can get out myself." When they arrived home and Shi Li saw Heige bend down and reach into the passenger seat to carry her, she quickly refused.
