By the time they left Nimboria Manor, day had fully broken over Misty Peak Mountain.
Charlotte Shaw hadn't slept a wink all night. After nesting in Felix Preston's arms for less than two hours, she was off to the Kyloria Police Department again to assist the special task force.
When she came out, it was already nearly noon.
"Are you hungry?" Felix Preston helped Charlotte Shaw into a new down jacket, then pulled a mask from his coat pocket and fitted it on her face.
Charlotte Shaw shook her head and sank weakly into Felix Preston's arms. "They gave me something to eat. I'm not hungry. I just want to go back and rest."
"Okay." His heart ached for her as he stroked her head, his voice starting to choke up again.
"Don't cry." Charlotte Shaw gently patted his back, comforting him in turn. "There, there, don't cry. I made it back safely, didn't I?"
"Mm-hmm." He nodded, his eyes red. Before letting Charlotte Shaw go, he furtively took off his glasses to wipe away a tear.
