The newcomer was none other than Jasper Shaw.
The men behind him were fierce and strong, with sharp gazes. A single glance was enough to tell they were no ordinary people.
Not only that, but the sheer, overwhelming number of them would have intimidated any normal person.
Before she could think any further, Jasper Shaw strode over.
His expression was anxious, and he moved as if his feet had wings. In just a few steps, he was beside Chloe Sinclair, pulling the young woman into his arms.
As the familiar, faint scent of lemon filled her senses, Chloe Sinclair had yet to react when a deep, male voice came from above.
"Chloe, did you get hurt?"
Having known Chloe Sinclair for so long, Jasper Shaw wasn't worried that Joseph Shaw's men could actually harm her.
He was just afraid the young woman had been disgusted by Joseph Shaw.
"I'm fine, but I did hit your dad a few times with a stick," Chloe Sinclair said softly into Jasper Shaw's ear.
