When Ethan Grant finished, he looked up at Yvette Grant and asked, "Any more questions?"
Yvette Grant stood there, stunned. After a long moment, she said dryly, "No."
'No, I have more!'
'A lot more!'
She had assumed Ethan Grant wouldn't play along and answer her question. Or even if he did, that he would just lie.
'That's right, lie.'
She believed that a man of Ethan Grant's principles wouldn't "flirt" with Katherine Kane in front of so many people. He would at least show some consideration for Shirley Thorne's dignity. Therefore, he would surely deny what he had said back then.
But he really had said it.
Back then, Uncle Grant and Master Grant hadn't had their complete falling out yet, so her family still received an invitation to Mrs. Grant's birthday banquet. She remembered the scene vividly. At the time, she had been deeply disdainful, thinking Ethan Grant was pathetic for sucking up to his grandmother so much that he'd even joke about something as serious as marriage.
