Chapter 4 - The Desire for Dual Classes

"My name is Kiba Inuzuka…"

"My name is Ino Yamanaka!"

"…"

Mo Xie watched with mild boredom as one child after another stepped onto the podium to introduce themselves. Among them, he naturally spotted the so-called Rookie Nine from the original story.

The introduction session soon neared its end. It was almost the turn of the student seated directly in front of him.

After that student returned to their seat, a figure suddenly rose from beside him.

Almost instinctively, Mo Xie glanced sideways—and paused slightly.

The person sitting next to him was none other than the girl he had "rescued" two days ago, and one of the heroines of this world—Hinata Hyuga.

He held a fairly positive impression of this character. Otherwise, he would not have bothered helping her that day. The only flaw, in his view, was that she was far too timid.

"I… I'm… Hinata Hyuga…"

Standing on the podium, Hinata Hyuga struggled to finish even a simple self-introduction, her words halting and soft.

When she returned to her seat with her head lowered in embarrassment, Mo Xie stood up calmly and walked to the podium.

Facing the class, he spoke in a slightly cold tone.

"Mo Xie."

He had no interest in saying more. After that single sentence, he turned and walked back to his seat.

Yet there was no denying that, for that brief moment, he had become the focal point of the classroom.

Unlike the childish immaturity of his peers, Mo Xie's composed demeanor and mature aura immediately drew attention—especially from the girls. Combined with the faintly wicked presence that seemed to linger around him and the indifferent tone he used during his introduction, he conquered quite a few female classmates in an instant.

Children in this world matured early, particularly girls. Even at a young age, they already understood the stirrings of romance, and they had almost no resistance to a handsome boy their age.

Mo Xie's refined yet faintly sinister features made it certain that after today, he would become one of the most eye-catching boys in the class.

The other would be the world's second male lead—Uchiha Sasuke, whose personality would, in the future, sink into prolonged darkness.

"Wow… he's so cool!!!"

A girl clasped her hands tightly, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Mo Xie, who had already returned to his seat. Her expression resembled that of someone who had just discovered a chest filled with gold coins.

She was Ino Yamanaka.

"Ino, you're drooling."

Beside her sat a pink-haired girl—the female lead who would later have the most screen time in this world, Sakura Haruno.

"I've decided. I'm going to pursue him. You're not allowed to fight me for him!" Ino Yamanaka declared after wiping at the corner of her mouth, where no drool actually existed.

"Uh… I support you," Sakura Haruno replied helplessly. "But your chances probably aren't very high."

While Ino Yamanaka and Sakura Haruno whispered to each other, Hinata Hyuga sat in the last row, her attention fixed entirely on Mo Xie.

Her hands, resting on her knees, trembled slightly. From time to time, her fingers clenched so tightly that it seemed as if she wanted her nails to dig into her palms. After taking several deep breaths, she finally mustered the courage to speak.

"Mo Xie… kun… h-hello…"

Her timid voice interrupted Mo Xie, who had been manipulating the system interface in his mind. His movements paused. He turned his head and looked at the short-haired girl beside him.

He gave a small nod.

"Mm. Hello."

Having finally gathered the courage to greet him, Hinata Hyuga found herself at a loss for what to say next. She lowered her head shyly, racking her brain for something—anything—to continue the conversation, but no words came.

After a long while, Iruka Umino left the classroom and returned carrying a box. Only then did Hinata Hyuga manage to speak again.

"Th-That day… th-thank you…"

"It was nothing. Those idiots disturbed my sleep. Helping you was just incidental."

Mo Xie did not even look at her as he answered.

From the moment Iruka Umino reentered the classroom with the box, Mo Xie's gaze had already left the system interface and fixed on it.

Inside that box, without question, was the Chakra Extraction Method.

Iruka Umino placed the box beside the podium and clapped his hands with a smile.

"I'm sure many of you are curious about what's inside. Some of you come from clan families, but most of you are from ordinary households. What's in this box is something that will allow those from common backgrounds to become strong in the future—the Chakra Extraction Method, the basic hand seals, and the fundamental ninjutsu known as the Three Basic Techniques."

As expected.

Mo Xie's eyes burned with heat.

To become a shinobi, one had to learn ninjutsu. And chakra was the energy required to perform ninjutsu—just like the Energy Value needed to activate skills in a game.

Upon hearing the words Chakra Extraction Method, many students' eyes lit up just like his. A few even looked as though they might rush the podium at any moment to seize it.

"All right. We'll begin distributing the scrolls starting with the first group. Those whose clans have already provided them need not come forward," Iruka Umino instructed.

Another round began.

This time, the expression on Mo Xie's face was no longer boredom but anticipation—no different from the other students.

In fact, it was closer to urgency.

He had to test something.

After changing class to Dark Emperor and cultivating Energy Value, could he still cultivate chakra?

If the answer was yes, then he would become a dual-class player. His starting point and future would far surpass anyone else's.

One by one, students went up to collect their scrolls. Soon, it was Mo Xie's group's turn.

He walked to the podium again and accepted a sealed scroll from Iruka Umino. Suppressing the excitement surging in his chest, he maintained a composed expression, ignoring the disdainful looks from certain clan-born students.

Returning to his seat, he sat down without immediately opening the scroll.

Even though, at that moment, he wanted to learn its contents more than anyone else.
