Chapter 88 - Chapter 86. The end

Lyan

After resting for a while we got out of bed when we heard someone knocking.

I got up in a flash and ran up to the wall, having no idea what to do to open it.

After putting on some decent clothes I finally spoke.

" Come in"

A petite maid entered, her head lowered as she spoke, as if I was a big scary monster.

" The guests are here. Would you like to see them?"

I eyed my guys, who were up and about, sorrounding me. What guests?

" Sure" Oscar smiled diabolically as he nibbed at my ear, sending shivers down my spine and making my pussy throb.

I ignored him and turned around, ready to follow the maid. This wasn't the time for that, maybe later. Who was I kidding? Definitely later.

The maid took us down and up the stairs to a part of the castle I had never seen before. There, in a room big enough to fit three big beds, were my guy's parents, both of them looking around in a daze.

" Hello"

I smiled at them as I walked closer, but they didn't have eyes for me as they ran up to their sons and hugged them. I stood on the line, watching them with a smile. That was what a family was like. It was warm.

Jack

I couldn't believe I was hugging my mother again. I clung onto her, not wanting to let go. I knew it was foolish, but being near her soothed the burning wound in the middle of my chest. I didn't know when, but at some point she had become my real mother, someone I wouldn't risk for anything in the world.

I hugged her and my dad as silent tears streamed down my face. I had to accept the past was gone and that I couldn't change it. I couldn't do anything to change the past, but I could change the future and stay with my family. With those that loved me.

I glanced at Lyan, who was standing apart, just watching us and pulled her into the hug.

She relaxed between my arms as my parents hugged her too. She was apart of the family now, whether she liked it or not.

Some time later.

I watched as the demon King, Lyan's dad, came in, his stride confident as he walked right up to Lyan and hugged her in his strong arms.

Ruan, his loyal sidekick, smiled from the side as he watched them, all of us smiling at the warm scene.

I was feeling up and happy just until Ruan grabbed me by the collar along with Orus and Oscar and pulled us away, not even telling us what that was about. Unfortunately Lyan was too busy talking to her dad to check on us, so we were on our own.

" What are you doing?" The moment he pulled us away I begun screaming, my hunch telling me I didn't want to go to wherever he wanted to take me.

" Don't you want to be immortal?"

I stared at him. What the fuck had he eaten? You weren't supposed to take drugs.

Orus

I tilted my head, completely in agreement with Jack. Ruan had to be on something, there was no way for humans to become immortals, but I was fine with it. I was fine with living my life to the fullest with my family and then dying a peaceful death.

" Don't you want to stay with the princess forever?"

" I do" That was insulting, it wasn't even a question.

" Then you have to do this"

" Why?" I asked what everyone was thinking, their thoughts clear in their faces.

" Because she's immortal and you aren't" Ruan spoke as if we were stupid, which pissed me off.

My claws threatened to extend but I pushed them back, mulling over his words. What if she was immortal and this was the only way to stay with her forever? Would I do it then?

What a silly question. The answer was obviously yes.

" Will it hurt?" Oscar's question made Jack's face pale with fear, the smell of panic clear in the air, but it was a really useless question. Even if it hurt, if it meant spending my whole life with my mate I would do it without hesitation.

" A little" Ruan's smile was crooked as he looked at us.

" Good" Oscar's smile was equally crooked and dark as he took a step closer towards Ruan. " Let's do this now"

Ruan nodded and turned to look at us. To hell with it all.

I extended my own hand only seconds before Jack did the same. Immortality, here we went.

Oscar

The process was a little bit painful. As life force entered us forcefully I heard screams as Jack and Orus flinched, the pain too much to bear.

I wanted to scream too, but I pushed it deep down. Pain was nothing but a mental state.

Knowing that I would be immortal after was enough to keep me going, that and the fact that I knew where all this life force had come from. As it entered me I could feel trees, humans, birds. The demons had decimated the whole freaking world for this.

I laughed as pain rippled through me. It was the same rush I got when killing something or knowing something was dead. I smiled as the pain slowly went away.

" It's done" Ruan's voice was smug as he left us to our own, teleporting away from the dark room barely lit by an old chandelier on the ceiling.

I didn't feel any different, but I had to try. I took out my dagger and stabbed myself on the arm.

I watched in awe as my blood dripped into the floor for a few seconds before the wound fixed itself, no longer needing anything else to heal.

" Hahaha" I laughed maniacally as I looked at my healed arm. Not even a scar remained. This was fucking great.

From the corner of my eye I could see Jack and Orus smiling too, moving their own arms around as if they were weird new appendages. All I could do was smile, this was so much fun!

Ruan

After fixing the humans, Ashmoder had ordered me to do it, I teleported to the dungeon, where the corpses of the rebels were being kept.

Not even checking if anyone was around I begun the spell, using the ingredients I had already brought there just in case I could start the resuscitation ritual.

Ashmoder had said he wouldn't care about them being alive again and I was going to take that quite literally. They were going to be alive again, even if they hated me for everything I'd done I would still choose to save them.

As I chanted I watched the corpses change colors, from the pale blue of death to their natural skin colour. I watched as the wounds that had killed them fixed themselves and they finally took a deep breath.

" Why did you do that?" Imma was quickly on her feet, pointing at me with her hands.

" I may hate you, but I don't want you dead"

My heart jumped seeing her up and about, as perfectly fine as the last time I had seen her alive.

I wanted to stay and help her out, but the look on her face told me I wasn't welcomed.

I didn't even wait for Luan to wake up before I got up, my legs wobbling a little from the amount of energy I had lost, and got out of the dungeon, not feeling so gloomy anymore.

Imma

What the fuck was going on? I stared at Ruan backing away, threatening him with my hands. When I was sure he was gone I turned to look at Luan, who was beginning to wake up with a confused expression.

I was the same. Why did he save us? Why did he revive us? Weren't we enemies?

I didn't have an answer to those question as I helped Luan out. All I knew was that we had to get out of here before someone not as stupid as Ruan caught us.

Luan

Imma helped me get up and support me as I regained my strength as we tried to run outside. I was still feeling confused and hurt as we walked slowly. I still couldn't believe Ruan had betrayed us like that, but I had to keep going.

I took Imma's hand to take a corner, a few feet closer to our freedom, when we clashed right onto the king.

Crap, we were done for.

Ruan

The moment I saw Imma and Luan crashing against Ashmoder I ran there, fear gripping me. I didn't know what I was afraid of, if I was afraid of them hurting Ashmoder or the other way around. I couldn't tell. My heart was a fucking mess.

" So you brought them back" I braced myself when I heard Ashmoder's accusation.

I thought he wouldn't care, but if he did it was my fault then, and I would take responsibility for it.

" Yes"

" Okay" That was all Ashmoder said before turning around.

I breathed a sigh of relief, we were all going to be fine. Just when I was going to smile Imma's face contorted in rage and she launched at Ashmoder.

I panicked and tackled her on to the floor, just in time to stop her from touching Ashmoder.

I glared at her. Was she crazy?

" Die!" Imma's words didn't help her case as I pressed on her body, her thrashing underneath me. Couldn't she tell this was not the right moment?

Luan stared at us from her spot, transfixed.

" Why should I die?" Ashmoder sounded more amused than annoyed as he looked at us. Thank God for that.

" You killed my family" Tears were running down Imma's face as she glared at Ashmoder.

" It's possible" Ashmoder's answer only pissed Imma off even more. " Why did I kill them?"

Imma clenched her teeth, the sound audible from afar.

" For not having enough tribute"

" Tribute?" Ashmoder said what I was thinking. What tribute? The palace never got any.

Ashmoder begun laughing, his smile setting Imma off even more.

" I don't do those. Only the local lords do. Your problem is with them"

" I already killed them! They told me you were in charge"

" They lied" Ashmoder smiled once again before turning away.

Imma

They had lied? My mind was a mess as I stared at the king's back. It was possible he was lying, but it didn't seem like it. The King had no reason to lie.

Then was all I had done for nothing? Was my revenge for nothing?

I broke down, right then and there, holding onto Ruan for support.

Luan

Watching Imma break was devastating. I tried to do my best to calm her down but nothing worked. Only after hours of crying did she finally calm down.

" What do I do now?" Her voice was soft as she asked.

" Be my family" She was my family. She didn't need to have some greater purpose.

Imma looked at me and smiled.

" I'll be your family" And just like that we were all a family again, but there was something I still wanted to know.

" Why did you betray us?" I looked at Ruan as I asked, my eyes never leaving his.

" I never did" Ruan's voice was dark as he answered, looking me in the eyes. " I considered you my family, but my ultimate loyalty lays with Ashmoder, it always has and always will. He saved me"

I could understand that. They had saved me and I would give my life for them.

" Okay, brother" Ruan's face lit up when he heard me calling him that.

He grabbed onto me and pulled us all into a hug.

I laughed as we all hugged. We were finally getting our family back.

Lyan

My guys came back just when dad left, both of them eyeing the other as if they were the enemy.

I smiled at them as I ran up to them, all of them wearing the same smile.

" Welcome home"

" We're back"
