A week later
Lyan
Time passed by in a flash. Before I knew it the week had passed by in between excursions and kisses and it was already time for dad to come back again.
" When dad comes back you have to hide" I told my guys as we all ate in my room, sitting on the floor.
" Where should we hide?" Orus asked as he took a whole piece of bread and pushed it into his mouth.
" You can stay in my wardrobe" I pointed to it, big enough to hide three people inside and even more.
" Why do we have to hide?" Jack asked, eyebrows raised. " Didn't we win fair and square?"
He had gotten to the core of the issue.
" Well...." I hesitated. I didn't love my dad right now, but he was still family and I didn't want my guys to hate him, no matter how much of an homicidal maniac he was. " The thing's he has it out for you"
" Why?" Orus's question was fair.
I was wondering what excuse I could come up with when Oscar started laughing.
" Why are you laughing?" I folded my arms. " This is serious"
" No reason" Oscar said as he smirked. Psycho.
Orus and Jack ignored him and continued looking at me, their eyes expectant.
" He kinda, a little bit, maybe, could be" I began, twisting my hair in my fingers " want to kill you because you're with me"
" Why?" Jack looked confused as he asked, not understanding.
" Because he's overprotective" That was the best I had.
" You could say that" Oscar chuckled while he smirked.
I looked at him with my eyebrows furrowed. Just what did he know?
" Anyway" I cut off my thoughts, knowing Oscar would never tell a secret unless he wanted to" you have to hide"
" Understood"
All of them nodded as they finished their breakfast and hid in the closet, watching me all the time as I turned the lock.
Just then a loud crack could be heard all over the room and the wall burst open, dad appearing in the middle of it. Just in time. If the guys had hidden a second later they'd be dead. I shuddered thinking about it.
" Hi bunny"
Dad's smile was diabolical as he ran to me and hugged me, lifting my whole body up. I felt his body warmth and immediately relaxed. Despite knowing he was a piece of trash I still wanted him around. He made me feel safe.
" Hi dad. I missed you" I whispered into his ear as he twirled around with me in his arms, his whole body shaking from his laughter.
After doing a few more spins he finally settled me down with care.
" How were your new servants?" Dad asked with a gleam in his eyes that didn't mean anything good.
" They were fine" I shrugged, apparenting disinterest while my heart was really threatening to burst out of my chest, fear spreading all over my body. " Do you want to go outside?" I asked, trying to get him out of my room where my guys were hiding.
" Sure" Dad said, casting a murderous glance the wardrobe's way. " Let me just destroy that awful thing and get you a new one"
His fingers pointed to my guys and his lips formed a smile as he look ready to murder. Oh, no. Hell no.
" Let's go now" I said, grabbing his hand and pulling him away from my room with all my strength. " You'll do that later"
Dad looked at the guys one last time but let it go as he grabbed my hand and walked out, muttering something I didn't understand.
It wasn't until we had gotten fairly away from my room that I finally breathed a sigh of relief. My guys would be okay, and what was more Ruan had also come back and he would help us escape.
I looked at Dad from the corner of my eye and saw his whole face contorted in anger. I just hoped Ruan could get to us before dad actually went and murdered my guys.
Ruan
Ashmoder had been in a shitty mood ever since for whatever reason his attack on the north path had failed miserably. He had been screaming at the servants and hitting everything, making the walls collapse and the whole structure tremble.
" Aren't you happy?" I asked him from where I was perched on the couch in his room.
" Why would I be? We have yet to catch the rebels" Ashmoder's voice was low and dark.
" Because they haven't attacked another time?"
Ashmoder huffed as he looked at me as if I was crazy.
" At least I'll get to see my daughter" He conceded.
He really loved his little girl. I was beginning to feel bad about helping her escape, but then again he had cheated on me with not one but two women. He deserved it.
" And have fun with your girls" My tone was filled with jealousy and anger.
" Yeah?" Ashmoder's half questioning tone pissed me off. Did he not even remember the girls he had slept with? Trash, but my trash.
" Let's get going" I said a I got up from the couch and offered him my hand, which he rejected as he got up from his bed by himself and walked up to where Els was still eating breakfast.
" We go back now"
" Why? We haven't even caught the rebels yet" Els whined.
I snorted, not that they'd ever would.
Ashmoder glared at Els and she backed down, lowering her head.
" Understood" She muttered as she finished her breakfast in a second and was ready to move.
While we teleported I lost sight of Ashmoder, who probably went off to find his daughter, so I used the chance to sneak into Ashmoder's room.
Rage overtook me as soon I saw the bed. The same bed he had taken women to, the same bed he had slept with them in. I decided instinctively that since I was going to make the princess disappear I might as well blame her for burning down his room.
Ashmoder would be pissed and it would be the perfect chance to get him away from her. It was killing two birds with one stone.
I used my power to light up the bed and disappeared before it all burned down, a smile on my lips.
Lyan
We were walking towards the exit when a servant came running at us, his hair all ruffled and this expression contorted with fear.
"My King" The servant bowed.
" What is it?" Dad sounded pissed.
" Your room's on fire"
" What!!!?" Dad's screams made both the servant and me flinch.
His whole face contorted with anger as he looked at me one last time.
" Stay in your room until I come get you"
I wasn't stupid. I knew that the fire was very likely a distraction from Ruan and that we'd go away today, but I didn't want to go away without saying goodbye to dad first.
" Be careful" I said as I hugged him one last time, carving his image into my memory. " I love you" I said with a faint smile.
Dad looked at me weird but hugged me back. This time I had made sure not to think about anything while talking to him, so even if he could read minds he wouldn't be able to tell our plan.
Dad hesitated for one second around the corner before finally turning it. The moment he disappeared I ran to my room as fast as I could. Time to get back to Earth.
As I had suspected Ruan was in my room, touching my guy's hands and waiting for me.
When he saw me his lips formed a big smile and he grabbed my hand, not waiting for my permission to teleport us out of there as the whole castle shook and I saw dad's hair from the corner of my eye, running towards us, before the image changed.
We were in the breach Ruan had shown me, right below it.
" Get going now, before Ashmoder catches up" Ruan urged us to go, getting down on one knee to help us out.
My guys smiled and one by one they crossed the portal, going back home.
For whatever reason my heart hurt while thinking about leaving, but it was the right thing to do. The gem was there, the chance to save my family was there, my whole life was there. It wouldn't make sense to stay here just because of an alleged father I had met less than two months ago, right?
It was true he had loved me like a father. He had been kind, he had made me remember what it was like to have a fatherly figure in my life, but I couldn't just throw it all away because of that, could I?
" What are you hesitating for?"
Ruan's voice made me realize I had been standing still for a few minutes, not moving. By now my guys would be panicking, thinking I had abandoned them.
It was that thought what pushed me to do it. I could always see dad another time. It wasn't as if he was going to die. He was the devil after all.
" Will I ever see dad again?" My voice came out weak and low as I asked about the only thing that had made me hesitate, thinking that maybe hell wasn't so bad after all.
Instead of answering Ruan laughed to my face. I crossed my arms, pissed. What the fuck? Was he laughing about my serious concern? Asshole.
" As if he would ever let you go" Ruan finally said after laughing for a while. " Come on, let's get you out of here before daddy comes looking for you and murders me"
I smiled at Ruan as I took up his offer and used his knees to get up, getting sucked back into earth as soon as I touched the portal.
That was it. I was finally getting back home.
Ruan
I spit out blood as Ashmoder hit me again, punching me in the gut. My whole body hurt like hell and I hadn't gotten any water or food in over a day, but I could deal with it all as long as Ashmoder was focused on me.
Just as I had expected the moment he had realized it was all a trick he had come running, murder in his eyes, but by then the princess was gone and so were the humans. I was the only one left. That was why he was taking out his anger on me.
My whole body slumped forward as Ashmoder slammed my head into the wall, making everything ring and the world get blurry for a while. The manacles prevented me from falling, but my body tilted dangerously low as I puked out blood, a faint smile on my lips.
Everything hurt like a bitch, but I could deal with it as long as it was Ashmoder. That and he was finally paying attention to me.
" Why'd you do it?" Ashmoder's voice was dark as he punched me again, breaking my shoulder.
" Do I need a reason to?" I chuckled, smiling with all my bloody teeth on display.
" I'm going to get her back no matter what" Ashmoder's angry face was only a few inches away from me.
" Sure" I smiled, pissing Ashmoder more. He grabbed my hand and broke my fingers. I just smiled through it all, not a single scream escaping from my lips.
" Why did you betray me?" His tone shifted in a second, from angry to confused and hurt. He didn't have the right to be angry. I did. He had betrayed me first.
" You did it first" I spat out, venom in my words.
" When?" His confused expression pissed me off. Why was he playing innocent? There was no way he didn't know I had a crush on him.
" When you slept with Els and another woman in a pleasure house" I said, my teeth clenched in anger.
Ashmoder looked at me confused for a few seconds before he burst out laughing.
Asshole.
I threw my whole body forward and bit him in the hand hard, drawing blood.
He just looked and me and grabbed my head, an emotion I couldn't quite place on his face.
" You're so foolish" He said before he leaned in closer.
I flinched. Now I was dead for sure.
