Chapter 20 - The Bronze God's System: Crafting a Legend

The Failed Crafter's Awakening

The world of Aethelgard was a world of magic, but not everyone was born a mage. Some were born as "Awakened Warriors," and others as "Grand Alchemists." Dayal, however, was born into a family of humble metalworkers in the outskirts of the Iron Empire.

For years, Dayal struggled. While others could forge swords that glowed with holy light or shields that could stop a dragon's breath, Dayal's creations were... ordinary. He worked with brass and bronze, materials the high-level hunters called "trash."

"Give it up, Dayal," the village elder often said. "Bronze is the metal of the past. If you can't craft with Mana-Steel or Mythril, you will never be a Master."

Dayal didn't listen. He felt a strange connection to the warmth of the molten metal. He felt that bronze had a soul, a hidden strength that everyone else was too blind to see.

One evening, while working late in his small, dusty workshop, Dayal tried to repair an ancient, rusted hammer he had found in a nearby cave. As he struck the glowing bronze plate, a spark flew into his eye, and the world turned white.

Dayal blinked. Floating in the air before him was a golden holographic screen.

Status Window

Name: Dayal

Title: The Last Bronze Smith (Level 1)

Trait: Infinite Upgrade (Locked), Divine Luck (Active)

Current Task: Craft your first 'Awakened' Bronze Tool.

Reward: +10 Strength, Unlocking 'The Eye of Evaluation'.

"A System?" Dayal whispered, his heart racing. He had heard legends of the Great Heroes having systems that helped them level up by killing monsters. But a Crafting System?

He looked down at the scrap metal on his table. Suddenly, the "Eye of Evaluation" kicked in. The dull metal started to glow with lines of data.

Item: Low-grade Brass Scrap.

Potential: Can be refined into 'Pure Sun-Bronze'.

Success Rate: 100% (Due to System Guidance).

Dayal took a deep breath. He picked up his hammer. This time, it felt different. Every strike was perfect. The rhythm of the hammer sounded like music. As the metal cooled, it didn't look like ordinary bronze anymore. It glowed with a faint, golden hue.

[DING!]

[Item Created: Sun-Bronze Dagger (Rank: Rare)]

[Effect: 20% extra damage against Undead.]

[System Note: You have turned trash into a treasure. Level Up!]

Dayal stared at the dagger. A "Rare" rank item made from bronze? This was impossible by all laws of alchemy. If the Iron Empire found out about this, the world would change forever.

"They called me a failure," Dayal smirks, his eyes reflecting the golden glow of the blade. "But with this System, I won't just be a smith. I will craft a legend that even the Gods will fear."
