Chapter 15 - The Un expected Ally

Chapter 14 — The Unexpected Ally

The evening air in the mansion felt heavy, almost oppressive. Lina moved quietly through the halls, her thoughts still swirling with the warning from the previous morning. Someone was watching her, testing her… and she didn't know who.

A soft voice stopped her near the grand staircase.

"Miss Lina," the staff member whispered. It was Clara, one of the few staff members Lina had quietly trusted. Her eyes darted nervously, scanning the corridor. "I know things… dangerous things. I can help you. But you must be careful. One wrong step, and…"

Lina felt a mix of relief and fear. She nodded. "I understand. I need your help."

Clara hesitated for a moment, then glanced around again. "Follow me. Not here. Not now."

They moved to a small, hidden side room behind the servants' quarters. Inside, Clara laid out a few notes and observations she had made over the past days — unusual movements, whispered conversations, and patterns that seemed to connect the intruder's appearances with events in the mansion.

"Whoever it is, they're patient," Clara said. "They wait, they watch… and they strike when the time is right. You need to be prepared."

Lina studied the notes carefully, her mind racing. "Do you know who it is?"

Clara shook her head. "Not yet. But I've been watching too. Together, we might figure it out before it's too late."

A sudden sound made both women freeze — the faintest footstep on the marble floor, followed by a soft whisper down the hall.

Lina's heart raced. "They're here."

Clara's eyes widened. "We need to be careful. Don't let them know you're aware yet."

Lina realized that even allies in this mansion could be dangerous. One wrong move, and the intruder could discover their plan. She tightened her grip on the notes.

As they left the room, Lina felt a flicker of determination. She had an ally now, someone who could help her navigate the web of secrets and threats surrounding Adrian's mansion.

But even with Clara's help, one truth remained: the mansion was alive with danger, and the shadows were closing in faster than Lina had imagined.

She pressed her back against the wall, peering into the dark hallway. The intruder was still out there… watching, waiting, and planning their next move.
