Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Betrayal in the Rain

[Supreme Dominion System - V0.0 (Locked)] - Host: Leo Carter (22, Brooklyn) - Current Wealth: $187.29 (Active Income: $15/day | Laundromat Part-time) - Team Loyalty: None - Unlocked Skills: None (System Locked) - Mission Progress: None (System Not Activated) - Influence: Brooklyn (0/100) | Local Reputation: Neutral (50/100)

The autumn rain slammed into Brooklyn's streets, turning the evening gray and bitter. Inside a dim, corner café, Leo Carter sat stiff across from Mia Wallace, his girlfriend of three years.

His hands were clenched so tight his knuckles had gone white.

He had rushed over straight from his part-time job at a laundromat, his clothes still smelling of detergent, his shoes soaked through. In his pocket lay a small necklace he had saved two weeks to buy — the one she had liked on Instagram.

He had thought tonight would be good.

He was wrong.

Mia looked at him as if he were something she would scrape off her shoe. Her voice was cold, final, without a single trace of softness.

"Leo, I'm breaking up with you."

The words punched him in the chest.

"…What?" He could barely speak. His throat felt locked. "Mia, we talked about moving in together next month. I've been saving —"

"Saving?" She laughed sharply, mockingly. "For what? A tiny apartment we can't even heat? A secondhand ring you'd need a year to afford?"

She leaned forward, her pretty face twisted with impatience.

"I'm not wasting my life on a loser who can't even pay his own bills. You'll never amount to anything. Never."

Leo stared, his heart shattering.

He had worked two jobs to support her when her parents cut her off.

He had given up his tuition to cover her rent.

He had loved her with everything he had.

And this was how she ended it.

"Is it because of Derek Morgan?" he asked, his voice shaking.

Derek Morgan — the arrogant, wealthy heir of Morgan Real Estate Group, a man who had looked down on Leo for years.

Mia did not even flinch.

"Yes," she said shamelessly. "Derek gives me the life I deserve. Luxury cars, designer bags, a penthouse, respect. You can't give me any of that."

She stood, adjusting her brand-new leather jacket — one Leo could never afford.

"Don't text me. Don't call me. Just disappear."

At that moment, the café door slammed open.

Derek Morgan strolled in, flanked by snickering friends, wearing a tailored suit and a watch that cost more than Leo's yearly salary. He wrapped an arm around Mia's waist and stared at Leo with cruel contempt.

"Well, well. Look who's still clinging to my girl."

Derek pulled out a thick stack of cash and tossed it onto the table.

The bills scattered.

"Here," he sneered. "Buy yourself a new shirt. Or a better life. Oh wait — you can't."

His friends laughed loudly. The entire café turned to stare.

Leo's face burned with humiliation. Every eye watched the poor, abandoned fool being torn apart by the rich kid.

Mia did not look ashamed. She leaned into Derek's chest, as if enjoying the show.

"Let's go, baby," she purred. "I don't want to be near trash."

Derek grinned and leaned down, whispering loud enough for Leo to hear:

"You were never good enough for her. And you'll never be good enough for anything."

The door closed.

They were gone.

Leo sat alone, surrounded by staring strangers, rain slamming against the windows, the scattered cash a slap across his face.

His chest hurt.

His pride was broken.

His heart was dead.

He had nothing.

No love.

No money.

No future.

No dignity.

He was nothing.

Just as despair threatened to swallow him…

A sharp, mechanical voice exploded inside his head.

[DING!]

Leo froze.

A pale blue transparent panel floated before his eyes — only he could see it.

[Welcome, Host.]

This system does not grant free wealth. It does not give instant victory.

It provides opportunities — but success depends on your choices and effort.

Every power has limits. Every reward requires risk.

Leo's fingers slowly unclenched.

A cold, faint flame ignited in his eyes.

Betrayed.

Humiliated.

Abandoned.

But not defeated.

[System First Mission (Mandatory):]

Survive the humiliation. Recruit your first subordinate within 7 days.

Reward: Initial startup fund, basic business insight, System Level 1 unlocked.

Failure: System permanently unbound. All temporary benefits erased.

Leo stared at the empty doorway.

The rain still fell.

The world still judged him.

But inside his chest…

Something had woken up.

He picked up the cash, stood, and walked toward the door.

He no longer felt shame.

He felt anger.

Ambition.

Revenge.

Outside, the cold rain hit his face.

Leo Carter whispered to the night, his voice low, sharp, and deadly.

"Derek Morgan. Mia Wallace."

"You think I'm nothing?"

A cold, determined smile spread across his face.

"Just watch me."

"I'm going to build an empire."

"And I'm going to bury you both under it."

[DING!]

Host's will confirmed.

The road to supremacy — officially begun.
