Chapter 7 - Crowned in Fire

šŸŒ™ LaRusso Apartment — Evening

The apartment was quiet.

Too quiet.

Jennifer paced the living room, restless. Daniel was out training with Mr. Miyagi. Her mother wouldn't be home for hours.

She stepped outside for air.

And then she saw it.

Parked under the flickering streetlight.

A black motorcycle.

Her breath caught.

She walked toward it slowly.

Ran her fingers along the handlebar.

Cool metal. Solid. Familiar.

Like touching him.

Her heart thudded.

Why is it here?

She turned—

And there he was.

Leaning casually against the stair railing.

Johnny Lawrence

No smirk.

No mocking.

Just watching her.

"Creepy," she breathed. "You don't knock?"

He shrugged. "You were busy."

Her pulse raced.

"Why are you here?"

He pushed off the railing.

Walked closer.

"I can't stop thinking about you."

Her stomach flipped.

He didn't look amused.

Didn't look sarcastic.

He looked… frustrated.

"I tried," he continued. "Didn't work."

Silence filled the space between them.

"And?" she asked softly.

"And prom's this weekend."

She blinked.

"I know."

He stepped closer.

"I want you to go with me."

Her heart exploded inside her chest.

"You're serious?"

"Yeah."

"Not as some joke?"

His jaw tightened slightly.

"I don't joke about that."

She didn't even try to play it cool.

She smiled wide.

Like she'd been waiting for this.

"Okay."

He exhaled.

Relief flickering across his face before he masked it.

"Get on."

šŸļø The Ride

They didn't go to the dojo.

They rode past it.

Past the beach.

To a small, quiet park overlooking the valley lights.

He cut the engine.

Silence.

They sat on a bench.

For once, Johnny wasn't posturing.

"My old man bailed when I was a kid," he said suddenly.

She blinked.

He stared at the ground.

"Mom remarried some rich jerk. He thinks I'm a screw-up."

She didn't interrupt.

"Cobra Kai's the only place that makes sense," he continued. "Sensei says if you're strong, nobody controls you."

"And do you believe him?"

He hesitated.

"I don't know."

That admission was fragile.

Real.

She reached for his hand.

He didn't pull away.

"You're not a screw-up," she said quietly.

He looked at her.

Like he didn't hear that often.

"And you don't have to hurt people to be strong."

A pause.

He squeezed her hand slightly.

She felt something shift inside her.

This wasn't a plan.

This was real.

And that terrified her.

šŸ’— Prom Night

Jennifer's Bedroom

Pink dress.

Soft.

Elegant.

A flower pinned to her chest.

Hair loose and wavy.

Glossed lips.

She barely recognized herself.

A car horn sounded outside.

Not a motorcycle.

A limo.

She rushed to the window.

And there he was.

Black suit.

Hair styled perfectly.

Confident.

Handsome.

She felt heat rise to her cheeks.

She ran downstairs.

Her mother stared in shock.

"That's Johnny Lawrence?"

Jennifer smiled shyly.

"Yeah."

Johnny opened the limo door.

Offered his hand.

She took it.

Leaning up—

She kissed him softly.

This time he didn't freeze.

He kissed back.

Just enough.

Then they stepped inside.

šŸ« West Valley High — Prom

The limo doors opened.

The crowd quieted.

Whispers rippled.

Jennifer stepped out first.

Arm linking through Johnny's.

Heads turned.

Tommy whistled loudly.

Bobby clapped.

Dutch laughed.

Jimmy gave a thumbs up.

They entered together.

And the gym fell silent again.

Across the room—

Daniel froze.

Beside him—

Ali Mills

Ali's smile faltered.

Just a little.

Daniel's jaw tightened.

Ali touched his arm gently.

"Don't," she whispered.

šŸ„‚ Inside

Jennifer and Johnny grabbed punch.

"You look…" he paused.

"Yeah?"

"Good."

She smiled.

"You clean up nice too."

Before he could say more—

Tommy grabbed him.

"Dance floor, man!"

The Cobra boys dragged him away laughing.

Jennifer watched them go.

She smiled softly.

Let him have his moment.

Then—

Daniel and Ali approached.

Daniel crossed his arms.

"So this is real now?"

She gave him a flat look.

"You didn't talk to me for two weeks."

"That's different."

"How?"

Ali stepped in gently.

"We just wanted to check in."

"Now you care?" Jennifer shot back.

Daniel flinched.

Before it could escalate—

Johnny returned.

He took Jennifer's hand.

Gave Daniel a polite nod.

Not polite at all.

Just restrained.

"For her," his eyes seemed to say.

They stepped onto the dance floor.

Soft music.

He pulled her close.

Hands steady at her waist.

"You okay?" he murmured.

"I am now."

They swayed slowly.

For a moment—

Everything felt right.

Then—

The announcement.

"Prom Queen: Ali Mills!"

Applause.

"And Prom King: Johnny Lawrence!"

The gym erupted.

Johnny stiffened.

Jennifer clapped loudly.

Proud.

He walked to the podium beside Ali.

Crowns placed gently.

Then—

"Tradition requires a dance."

The music shifted.

Johnny turned toward Ali.

Jennifer's smile faltered.

They stepped together.

Slow.

Formal.

Ali leaned closer.

Whispered something in Johnny's ear.

He laughed.

Jennifer's chest tightened painfully.

Ali leaned up—

And kissed Johnny's cheek.

Gasps.

Daniel froze.

Jennifer's vision blurred slightly.

She grabbed another cup of punch.

Drank it fast.

Another.

Her hands trembled.

Across the floor—

Johnny's eyes found hers.

Concern flickering.

But he stayed where he was.

Ali returned to Daniel.

"What was that?" Daniel demanded.

Ali frowned. "It was nothing."

"It didn't look like nothing."

Meanwhile—

Johnny approached Jennifer.

"Jen—"

"Why did you let her kiss you?" she snapped.

"It was just—"

"Don't."

He reached for her waist gently.

"I didn't want to make a scene."

She stepped back.

"You already did."

He looked frustrated.

"It didn't mean anything."

She laughed bitterly.

"It looked like it did."

Daniel appeared beside her.

"Let's go."

Johnny stiffened.

"Don't start."

Jennifer looked between them.

Her chest tight.

Her head light from the punch.

"I'm leaving."

Johnny's voice softened.

"Jen—"

But she turned.

Daniel followed.

Leaving Johnny standing under gym lights—

Crowned.

But suddenly alone.

And for the first time…

Strike softly didn't feel like control.

It felt like losing.
