Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Weight of the Veil

The Awakening (Day 5)

The evening shadows slowly stretched across the medical wing of the N.D.A. Headquarters. Adiraj had just stepped out for a high-level briefing when the graphs on the monitoring screens began to spike violently.

Rudra's violet eyes fluttered open. His entire body felt as though it were bound by heavy iron chains. There was a dull, persistent ache in every cell, but amidst that pain, there was a new, profound sense of calmness.

"Master... welcome back," the Ruin Soul's voice resonated. "By lingering near the threshold of death for five days, you have endured the pressure. Your mana-core has finally recognized and adapted to the violet aura."

Rudra looked at his hands. They seemed leaner, more solid than before. He checked his system window. His level remained at 23—the rate of his power progression was becoming agonizingly slow, just as he intended. He wasn't building a glass cannon; he was forging a foundation of steel.

Skill Evolution: Sovereign's Veil

Rudra realized that his violet aura was no longer leaking or chaotic. A new notification pulsed within his vision:

[SKILL EVOLVED / UNLOCKED]

Name: [SOVEREIGN'S VEIL - LEVEL 1]

Effect: Suppresses the Master's 'Violet Aura' and 'Murderous Intent' entirely.

Passive Benefit: Even Rank-S sensors or elites like Adiraj will perceive Rudra as a common 'D-Ranker' unless he consciously releases his aura.

Status: Slow Integration (Currently at 50% efficiency).

"So, I can become a 'Ghost'... even in broad daylight," Rudra whispered. This skill was his most vital tool for survival. He wasn't yet strong enough to face the ten S-Rankers of the world; he needed to remain in the shadows, growing at his own pace.

Deep Below: Kavir's Masterpiece

Fifteen floors below, in Research Wing S-01, Kavir stood before a massive machine that resembled a giant, mechanical eye. Around him, senior N.D.A. engineers were drenched in sweat, arguing frantically.

"Kavir! Have you lost your mind?!" a scientist shouted. "The filters you've installed are throttling the mana-flow!"

Kavir didn't even turn around as he tightened a micro-screw. "These filters aren't stopping the flow; they are 'categorizing' it. Your old scanners can only handle energy up to Rank-S. Anything beyond that, and your sensors detonate."

Kavir activated a holographic screen that displayed: "SS-RANK CALCULATION MODULE."

"My goal isn't just to fix Magitech suits," Kavir said, his eyes reflecting a cold, singular obsession. "My goal is to build a machine capable of calculating SS-Rank (Legendary/Eternal) power levels. Whether it's a Hell Gate... or a human."

He fitted a new 'Quantum-Mana Lens' into the core. This machine was designed to monitor every mana-signature in the country, specifically looking for spikes that transcended the S-Rank ceiling. Kavir had no idea that the very SS-Rank entity he was preparing to track had just woken up directly above him.

The Silent Guardian

Adiraj entered the medical room, his signature carefree smile returning when he saw Rudra sitting up. "Finally awake, champ? You had the entire N.D.A. on edge for five days."

Rudra looked at Adiraj and immediately activated [SOVEREIGN'S VEIL]. Adiraj blinked, feeling the terrifying violet pressure that had once filled the room completely vanish. To him, Rudra now looked like nothing more than an exhausted 17-year-old boy.

"What exactly was that back in the training hall?" Adiraj asked, his tone shifting to one of genuine curiosity.

"I don't know," Rudra lied, his face an emotionless mask. "Maybe it was a reaction to the fear of death. My body just... reacted. I don't feel anything like that anymore."

Adiraj studied Rudra for a long moment, then laughed, clapping him on the shoulder. "Fair enough. The N.D.A. suits want to interrogate you, but I've shut them down. You're a member of Garud Vajra now—my guest. As long as you're under my roof, no one touches you."

The Parallel Paths

In the basement, Kavir flipped the master switch. The machine began to emit a low, rhythmic hum. For the first time, the N.D.A. servers flashed a new message: "SS-RANK DETECTION MODE: ONLINE."

Rudra looked out of the hospital window at the sprawling lights of Delhi. He knew his journey was long and his progress was slow, but his base was becoming so dense that when he finally hit Level 100, no scanner in the world would be able to map him.

For now, Kavir was building machines to see above the S-Rank... and Rudra was learning how to stay forever hidden from those very machines.

📊 Chapter 14: Current Status

Rudra's Level: 23 (Progression: Stable / Slow).

New Skill: [SOVEREIGN'S VEIL - LVL 1] (Mana & Intent Suppression).

Kavir's Objective: Completion of the SS-Rank Omega Scanner.

Location: N.D.A. Headquarters, Delhi (Separated by 15 floors).

World Status: The N.D.A. is now officially monitoring for "Legendary" grade energies
