"I hope he has fun tonight." While he watched Mason in the back of the room, Xavier didn't exactly sound sincere. But then again, why would he actually care? When I looked at it like that, it didn't really matter if he meant it or not. Right?
"Either way, I see you already ordered a drink, Connor," Xavier noted, his voice dropping an octave. "You didn't wait for me again."
"How would I know you were coming?" I replied, my pulse jumping nervously. It was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore how differently he acted here at the bar—especially now that I was hyper-aware of every single move he made at the company. "Also, I come here to drink. If I waited for you every time, I could die of thirst since you're always so busy around here."
