"Jaune, I can take care of it, you should reach Nysira!!" shouted Tauren as he immediately put himself in front of his friend. All the krukin rushed towards him, he hardened his body as much as he could, ready to resist all the hits.
As the enemy jumped on Tauren, Jaune created some wires thanks to the kinetic energy they gained. Some of them died pierced by the wire.
"Thanks, Tauren!!" shouted Jaune as he started to rush forwards towards Nysira. She wasn't really far from him, she was on top of a small hill, so reaching her would not be bad.
As Jaune reached a good spot he could see all the battlefield. He noticed Mantblast fighting against Allen; in that moment Allen was about to shoot his three bombs towards the enemy, so he was still alive.
Then he turned towards Darian, Vane, and Allocen, the three guys he had just left because he was too scared to fight against the hollowroot. 'I really hope that they will be alright…' thought him as he started to ask himself if what he did was right.
'I just left everyone… I don't know if this is right…' thought Jaune as he stopped for a moment. Around him there weren't enemies, so for now he was safe. He stopped for a moment thinking.
'But they told me that everything was going to be alright… from what I could see Allocen is an extremely skilled fighter, Darian and Vane are really strong too, especially Darian who doesn't even use his soul to cast the magic…' thought Jaune as he sat down for a moment, his body scared.
'Why am I the only one who went to save Nysira… am I really enough alone?' thought Jaune as his whole body started to shake. 'Am I really enough to save someone? I'm not strong physically… the only times I'm good is whenever I'm with Nysira…' thought him as he started to remember one time when both he and Nysira were working together…
It was one of their first times together, they were with some soldiers from Skar-Zhul and they had to explore to prepare a map for the squad. Both Nysira and Jaune were 19 at the time; right now they are both 23.
During that day countless enemies rushed towards everyone. As Nysira passed around the battlefield Jaune immediately created tons of wires to stop all of them. The guards were able to kill all of them thanks to their powers.
Nysira, realizing that the guards were able to overwhelm them by strength, reached Jaune and sat down next to him, her whole body still extremely charged.
"You aren't that much bad…" said her, breathing heavily, tired from the run she had just made.
"Yeah, I guess our powers aren't that bad together," answered Jaune, still focused on the battlefield, helping as much as he could the guards. Suddenly Nysira got his hand opened. As Jaune noticed it he understood that she wanted a hand to get up. As their hands met an explosion broke out in the battlefield, one of the soldiers who could use the magic of fire just created a huge explosion.
Jaune had never been physically strong, so he used a lot of strength pulling her up. "Ehi you are so weak physically, well with that body of yours," said Nysira playfully as she gave a small punch on Jaune's shoulder. He was both a bit annoyed but also really amused, especially to see someone that could help him use his power perfectly like that.
'Yeah… it really feels like the only one able to save Nysira is me…' thought Jaune as he got up. Now he was sure about saving Nysira, his worries suddenly disappeared. He turned around and headed towards the cross, which was around 656 feet away, so not really far.
As he reached the top of the hill he noticed the cross. On top of it there was Nysira, right under the cross there was a woman. From the description Darian gave him, he understood that it was Sappho, who noticed him.
As she noticed Jaune she got up and opened her arms like she was about to welcome him.
"Ohhh, then Garwhole was right, the one who would come is you!" yelled her as Jaune, without any more fear in his eyes, walked towards her.
Nysira in that moment was unconscious, so she did not see Jaune coming. 'I wonder what they have done to you Nysira… I promise I will do everything to save you' thought him as some krukins started to rise from the ground. The shadows summoned from Sappho were just a few.
'Eh? It looks weird, Darian and the others told me she could summon more and more creatures.' Jaune noticed that she was smirking; he understood that she probably had something that could help her.
"Go, my toys…" ordered Sappho as she got her hand up. The krukins who had just risen from the ground rushed towards Jaune.
The krukins were only 2 bladekruk and a kruksnil. Jaune immediately noticed that it was such an insignificant number.
'Wait let me try to think this…' tried to think him, but the krukins were already rushing towards him. The kruksnil was creating a small defensive path on the ground with his acid.
'For now let's just do this' thought him as he created a small wire on the bladekruk's feet, who stumbled against it and fell on the ground.
'From what Eros told me, this woman could summon the creatures that died in that place. She did that with the krukins and the soldiers in the cave…' thought him, trying to remember what Eros told him.
'If I heard right from Eros' words… it might mean she might keep everything for later…' thought him as he started to run through the battlefield, going on the right of the bladekruk, who had just gotten up from the ground and rushed towards him.
"I won't let you do that!!" shouted Jaune as the enemy who ran generated some kinetic energy. He created a small wire to block their feet; they completely fell on the ground stuck, with both their wires connected to each other.
Jaune stopped for a moment, breathing heavily. His physique was not built to run this much. Even if he had made around 20 steps while running, he was already tired.
In front of him there was the kruksnil, who moved extremely slow, but still he had some kinetic energy that his body generated.
As Jaune tried to create some wires to put pressure and make his whole body crushed by the wires, the strings were too weak. The acid on the kruksnil's body destroyed them the moment they were created.
"Tch…" Jaune now had to come up with a new plan, especially because the krukins were able to free themselves and they echoed really hard. But the sound of the scream now was different, mainly because they were shadows, so it sounded more distant, like it was coming from the underground.
Jaune started to run once again, scared of the two bladekruk behind him. The kruksnil, at his speed, started to follow him too.
"What is it, human? Are you scared? What about you become one of my toys instead?" said Sappho playfully. Jaune gave her an annoyed look. "I promise you will become faster and you won't get tired like this…" added Sappho as she noticed Jaune already getting tired once again.
'No… I must resist somehow, I can't already fall here' thought him as he glanced behind, the krukins a few steps away and the kruksnil right behind them.
Suddenly Jaune remembered that the acid that creature was creating was extremely dangerous and corrosive. 'I should try to make it go towards the bladekruk… but howw…' thought him as he started to run once again, breathing heavily.
The two bladekruk were echoing really hard and you could tell that Sappho was having a lot of fun seeing her toys being this scary.
Suddenly Jaune created some wires under his feet. Thanks to them he was able to speed himself, the bladekruk stumbled across them.
'If I can't make the acid arrive to them… I should just bring them towards the acid!!' thought Jaune as he realized his plan could somehow work. He started to gather a lot of kinetic energy by running through the wires. Jaune decided to speed up the enemies too, he started to rush towards the kruksnil.
The sound of steps was deafening, the bladekruk were becoming faster, but now Jaune was already a few steps away from the kruksnil.
Right before the bladekruk reached him, Jaune jumped on top of the kruksnil. Thanks to all the kinetic energy gathered by the krukins, he created some wires that were able to make the kruksnil explode. With the wires on his body, he defended himself.
As he landed on the ground, the kruksnil exploded and hit the other two bladekruk. Some acid even reached Sappho, who simply dodged it. Some of it reached Nysira, who because of the pain was about to wake up.
Most of the acid was able to break through the wire defense of Jaune and it destroyed part of his clothes and his skin too.
Suddenly he heard clapping, it was Sappho. "I must thank you, because you were able to make my toys have fun," said her as she kept clapping her hands. Suddenly she stopped.
"Now it's time for me to use a new toy, one that I wasn't able to use yet, because it would use too much strength and I might not be able to even stand on my feet…" said her, as away from Jaune a weird creature appeared. It was like nothing he had ever seen before.
It looked like an animal, but it was bigger and scarier… as it echoed, all the battlefield turned towards it, every battle was over, and Mantblast was passing nearby with one of his legs destroyed.
"Ehi that looks so damn strong, let me fight this once," said him while smirking. Sappho watched him annoyed. "With that leg… just think about healing yourself first," said her. Mantblast simply walked away helped by the bladekruk.
"Oh well…" said Sappho, watching Mantblast reaching the black planet safely. "Now…" added Sappho, turning towards Jaune, "let me see how my toy will have fun. From what I remember these types of creatures are called dinosaurs… Phocylides told me that they used to live here on the earth around 70 million years ago… I can't even think of a number this big hahaha," ended Sappho as she started to laugh. Jaune, scared, watched the huge creature echoing. Nysira woke up because of the sound.
