Early the next morning, Samui contacted the ship's crew. Once the vessel arrived, the four of them boarded and set sail for the Land of Lightning.
On the Ship
Looking at the route on the map, Fūma Shizuka frowned slightly.
"Captain, isn't this route going the long way around?"
Since Fūma Village was also located near Yugakure in the Land of Hot Water, Shizuka was somewhat familiar with the sea routes toward the Land of Lightning. But the route they were taking seemed deliberately longer.
Samui nodded.
"That's right. This route is indeed farther if we were heading to Kumogakure, but it's actually the shortest path to Unraikyō."
Nagi studied the map carefully.
The route did indeed lead directly to Unraikyō, but he still asked:
"So we're deliberately bypassing Kumogakure?"

Soon they arrived at a large plateau.
Standing there waiting for them was Killer B.
The group approached him. Samui retrieved the document from a sealing scroll and handed it over.
"This is the document you requested. Please verify it."
"OK! Thanks for the hard work. Give me a moment—yeah!"
Samui nodded and was about to turn away—
When suddenly Nagi appeared beside her.
Before she could react, she saw that Nagi had caught the blade of Killer B's sword with his hand.
"!?"
Only then did Samui realize what had just happened.
Killer B had attempted to ambush her.
If Nagi hadn't suddenly intervened, the blade would have pierced straight through her body.
Samui immediately jumped back and shouted at the man before them.
"Who are you?!"
"Killer B" grinned.
"I am the Eight-Tails Jinchūriki, Killer B! Today I've come specifically to take your lives!"
As soon as he finished speaking—
Crack.
Nagi snapped the sword in half with his bare hands.
"Killer B" quickly retreated.
Looking at the broken blade, he sighed.
"Not bad."

Samui recognized him immediately.
"That's… Kazuma the Chameleon."
Shizuka also recalled the name.
"I remember now—he's a shinobi from Yugakure. Why would he impersonate the client?"
Someone had impersonated the Eight-Tails Jinchūriki and attempted to assassinate them.
Samui immediately realized how serious the situation was.
"I'm contacting the Raikage right now."
But Nagi grabbed her arm.
"No need."
"It's already too late."
The moment he finished speaking—
A pillar of white light suddenly erupted from a distant hill, shooting straight into the sky.
Several Hours Earlier
Mui, the warden of Hōzuki Castle, had secretly infiltrated Unraikyō along with several senior figures from Kusagakure.
Their goal:
To use the Eight-Tails' chakra to open the legendary Box of Ultimate Bliss.
However, Killer B quickly sensed the intruders.
Using his incredible swordsmanship and Tailed Beast chakra, Mui and the others were completely unable to defeat him.
Unfortunately, Motoi had come that day to drink with Killer B.
He also noticed the disturbance and tried to help—
But he was captured by Kusagakure elites and ANBU, who restrained him using a sealing technique.
Killer B tried to save him.

Years ago, when Hashirama Senju, revived through Impure World Reincarnation, swept through Kusagakure, these particular leaders had survived only because they were inside Hōzuki Castle at the time.
They knew Danzo would never spare them.
So they fled with the Box of Ultimate Bliss.
However, Mui's son, Muku, had been absorbed into the box.
For years, Mui had longed to revive his son.
To accomplish this, he deceived the Kusagakure leadership.
He claimed they would use the Box of Ultimate Bliss to restore Kusagakure's glory and take revenge against Konoha and Hashirama Senju.
But opening the box required immense chakra.
Thus they set their sights on Tailed Beast chakra.
The Nine-Tails Jinchūriki was the wife of Konoha's Fourth Hokage, so they didn't dare infiltrate Konohagakure.
Instead, they targeted the Eight-Tails.
Their plan:
Capture Killer B.
Have Kazuma the Chameleon impersonate him and assassinate members of the International Exchange Team.
This would make Killer B a wanted criminal.
Under pressure from Konoha and other villages, the Raikage would be forced to imprison Killer B in Hōzuki Castle.
From there, their spies could extract the Eight-Tails' chakra.
