Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

[Greek Mythology] Night

Act.09

Act.09

"Tohsaka… Tokiomi!" Kariya sat on the sofa, gritting his teeth. "I didn't expect that guy's summoned Heroic Spirit to be so strong!"

Less than a day after Caster was detected being summoned, a Servant was eliminated. Neither side had anticipated this situation.

"System, do you have any information about these Heroic Spirits?"

Nix asked mentally.

"I'm sorry, host, the information is incomplete. We may need the Heroic Spirit's true name to find relevant information."

If I had the true name, I could just search for it online…

"The familiar has transmitted the image back," Kariya called out. "Anyway, let's take a look."

Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated. Nix strongly agreed with the importance of understanding the opponent's information, so the two settled on the sofa, preparing to see the information brought back by Kariya's familiar.

The Matou family most often uses insect-type familiars. To use them, one only needs to crush the insect to see what the familiar sees. Matou Kariya crushed the familiar in his hand without batting an eye, while Nix, sitting beside him, felt a chill run down his spine. The Matou family's insect magic was truly disgusting! There are cute or even beautiful insects in nature, but the ones Matou used were all bizarrely shaped and had an unpleasant odor—aesthetic killers!

This was also the main reason why Kariya had chosen to live on the very edge of the house, planning to move out as soon as he started working. But for him now, none of that mattered anymore.

The two watched the image slowly appear in the air.

A dark figure moved freely through the Tohsaka family's supposedly fortress-level defenses, its body contorting in bizarre ways, dodging beams of detection. As it advanced, it fired magical gems, shattering the defense system bit by bit.

"Assassin..."

This was the first time Nix had seen another Heroic Spirit. He had to admit, the legendary Heroic Spirits truly possessed extraordinary power. Destroying a defense system by force isn't difficult, but to do so without activating any traps is beyond the capabilities of a normal person.

The hero, renowned for his assassination skills, truly lives up to his name!

Soon, Assassin reached the center of the courtyard, where the central gem of the entire defense system rested on a stone platform.

Just as he was about to remove the gem, a longsword shot down, pinning his entire hand to the platform. Assassin let out a scream, and the camera rapidly shifted to the rooftop of the Tohsaka residence.

"So dazzling!"

That was Nix's only impression upon seeing this Heroic Spirit. Even through the image, one could feel just how dazzling this Heroic Spirit on the rooftop was! His golden armor shone like a sun in the darkness, practically blinding.

Then, Assassin was dealt with by this Heroic Spirit with remarkable nonchalance, and the familiar scene ended.

"What was that last one?" Kariya asked, puzzled. Were those used as ammunition all Noble Phantasms?

"Does such a Noble Phantasm even exist in this world?"

"Probably not." Nix flipped through the information about Noble Phantasms in his mind. Although a Heroic Spirit could possess multiple Noble Phantasms, there shouldn't be this many!

"System, do you have any relevant data?" he asked.

"Currently searching the database. Relevant data found, but due to database corruption, the data is incomplete, only the keyword 'treasure' remains." The system's voice sounded very frustrated. "Sorry, host, the database was corrupted when we transitioned from the modern era to the mythological era, and there isn't much data left now."

"Oh well, let's take it one step at a time," Nix comforted him. "Treasure... what does that have to do with weapons..."

"Nix—"

Kariya suddenly became serious, and Nix looked at him. His Master rarely spoke to him so seriously.

"What do you think of that Tohsaka Heroic Spirit?"

"Very strong."

Whether it's his aura or that unknown Noble Phantasm, that Heroic Spirit is a powerful figure. Nix isn't very confident he can defeat such an opponent right now.

"Can you defeat him?"

Nix hesitated. This was the first time Kariya had asked him about combat.

Ever since seeing Nix's attributes, Matou Zouken had given up hope on Nix's combat abilities. However, Matou Kariya hadn't said a word, still insisting that Zouken not do anything to Sakura and wait for the results before making a decision.

"Actually, I know you might have some special methods," Kariya continued when he didn't reply. "You've been experimenting these past few days; those are your Noble Phantasms, right?"

Nix didn't deny it. He had indeed been experimenting with materializing Noble Phantasms with the system at the Matou residence these past few days. He didn't intend to hide this from Kariya.

"I also tried searching for your real name, but online there's only one result for the name 'Nix': 'Goddess of the Night.' Perhaps you have your own reasons for not telling me your real name."

No, brother, you're overthinking it… I did tell you my real name…

"But I don't care about any of that. I only hope you can help me accomplish two things." Kariya looked into Nix's eyes, the gray-haired youth's eyes flashing with determination, "Defeat Tohsaka Tokiomi and win the Holy Grail for me."

Regarding Kariya, even though he hadn't told Nix, the system, that gossip king, had already found out quite a bit. His resentment towards Tohsaka Tokiomi didn't stem from the fact that the other was the husband of his unrequited love. Matou Kariya was actually a very immature man. If Tokiomi had been kind to Aoi-senpai, he might have felt resentful, but he wouldn't have harbored any hatred. But Tokiomi had given Aoi-senpai's child to Zouken, sending his own daughter to hell with his own hands.

To protect his senior's child, he decided to participate in the cruel ritual of the Holy Grail War, even at the cost of his own life. His resentment towards Tokiomi stemmed from his inability to protect his senior and her children.

However, Tokiomi also had his own difficulties. Nix sighed; he too had sent Sakura to the Matou family to protect her.

It can only be said that everyone's life is difficult. However, one must fulfill one's duty. Now that he was Matou Kariya's Servant, he naturally had to complete his mission.

"My Master,"

Nix stood up, a robe formed from divine power draped over his body. His right hand gripped an ancient-looking longsword, and a divine aura enveloped him. He looked like an invincible war god from mythology.

"I will fulfill your wish." Chapter 9 Act.09
