Chapter 99 - Chpt 93: Hall of Infinite Reflections

The transition from the First Layer to the Second was a violent spatial shift. The ice-cathedral dissolved into a corridor of obsidian glass, where every surface acted as a perfect, high-fidelity mirror. The air didn't just carry the cold; it carried a distorted resonance that made Zeth's Aura-eye throb.

"Stay close," Zeth commanded, his voice sounding weirdly distant in the reflective hall. "The spatial pressure is increasing. Rhydon, Charizard—hold the flanks."

As the team moved deeper, the mirrors didn't just show their reflections; they began to delay them. Zeth noticed his own reflection walking three steps behind him. Worse, Ceruledge and Armarouge were glowing with a strange, internal heat that seemed to fight against the Gate's oppressive chill.

During the descent, the temperature spiked as the mirrors attempted to siphon the heat from Zeth's fire-types. Ceruledge and Armarouge stood shoulder-to-shoulder, their respective violet and orange flames flickering wildly.

Normally, their Weak Armor would have made them brittle under the Gate's physical pressure, but as the Hall of Mirrors tried to blast them with concentrated, reflected cold, something snapped within their biological cores.

"They're not just resisting the cold anymore," Zeth observed, his system readout flickering with new data.

Aura Observation: The intense thermal suppression of the First Layer, followed by the Mana-Spring's raw energy infusion, has forced a latent genetic trait to surface.

Ceruledge & Armarouge: By synchronizing their energy during the Froslass suppression, they have "unlocked" their secondary affinity. Their spirits, forged in the same evolution line, have awakened Flash Fire.

Zeth realized the tactical shift immediately. "They've transitioned. They're no longer just glass cannons reliant on Weak Armor for speed. They can now absorb and internalize heat to power their own artillery."

Suddenly, the mirrors along the walls didn't just reflect—they stepped out.

From the obsidian glass, eight figures emerged. They were perfect, monochromatic gray versions of Zeth's team. They didn't have souls, but they had the exact same level and potential data.

"Gate Clones," Kael hissed, his Floatzel baring its teeth. "They're 'Data-Echoes.' They know every move your team knows."

"They know the moves," Zeth said, his eyes narrowing as he saw the Clone-Charizard take flight. "But they don't have the growth. Ceruledge, Armarouge—Frontline!"

The Clone-Houndoom opened its jaws, unleashing a massive Flamethrower intended to melt the knights.

"Don't dodge," Zeth commanded.

The two knights stood firm. Instead of their armor cracking under the heat, the flames were sucked into their shoulder-pauldrons and blades. Their own fires turned a brilliant, roaring white.

[Status: Flash Fire Activated. Fire-type move power increased by 50%.]

"The clones are using the data from five minutes ago," Zeth noted with a cold smile. "They don't know you just awakened". Armor Cannon! Bitter Blade! Burn the reflections!"

The Hall of Mirrors erupted in a crossfire of silver lunar flames and empowered knight-fire. The Clone-Charizard attempted to counter with its own Lunar Flame, but the Solid Gold precision of Armarouge's boosted Armor Cannon tore through the reflection's chest before it could stabilize the output.

However, the floor began to ripple. For every clone Zeth destroyed, the mirrors began to piece together a new one—this time, combining traits. A Rhydon-Cloyster hybrid began to form in the glass.

"We can't stay here and fight shadows," Zeth realized. "We have to break the source. Shelgon, use Zen Headbutt on the floor! We're dropping to the next sub-level!"

[Warning: Spatial Integrity at 40%. Layer 2 is collapsing inward.]

The Hall of Mirrors didn't just break; it multiplied. For every shard Shelgon shattered, a new, jagged reflection of the team's deepest fears manifested. The "Mirror-Core" wasn't a physical heart—it was the very concept of the room.

"The clones aren't just copies," Zeth realized, his Aura-eye burning with a painful, over-clocked intensity. "They're siphoning our actual stamina. Every move they make is fueled by our exhaustion."

To stop the respawns, Zeth had to find the True Reflection—a single mirror among thousands that didn't show a copy, but the truth of the room's corruption.

spatial distortion hit its peak. The hall began to stretch, forcing Zeth to split his roster to prevent being surrounded by a tidal wave of gray-scale replicas.

Squad Alpha (The Wall): Shelgon, Rhydon, Cloyster, Houndoom. Squad Omega (The Seekers): Charizard, Croagunk, Ceruledge, Armarouge.

"Alpha, hold the chokepoint!" Zeth roared over the sound of grinding glass. "Omega, with me! We find the source or we die in this loop!"

Squad Alpha was buried under a mountain of Clone-Rhydons. The gray giants moved with terrifying, soulless synchronicity.

"Rhydon, Hammer Arm! Cloyster, Shell Smash—Full Artillery!"

The Deep Purple Rhydon (Lvl 49) traded blows with three of its own reflections. Its skin was bruised, its horn chipped, but it refused to yield. Behind it, Cloyster (Lvl 47) shattered its own defensive shell to maximize its speed.

Pokémon: Cloyster (Deep Purple) | Lvl 47 Current Status: Shell Smashed. Defenses halved, Attack/Speed doubled.

Action: Icicle Spear—Omni-Directional. > Result: A blizzard of razor-sharp ice filled the corridor, pinning the clones down, but at the cost of Cloyster being a single hit away from a faint.

Zeth sprinted through the kaleidoscope of glass, his Aura reaching out like feelers. The Lunar Charizard flew low, its silver flames acting as a sonar.

"There!" Zeth pointed to a mirror at the very end of a spiraling staircase. It didn't show the team. It showed the Mikan B-Rank Perfection Stone—a cold, blue heart pulsing with malice.

But guarding it was the Ultimate Reflection: A hybrid of Ceruledge and Armarouge, fused into a four-armed obsidian nightmare.

"This one's ours," Zeth whispered. "Ceruledge, Armarouge—show them the power of a dual-soul."

The Mirror-Hybrid unleashed a massive, purple-black wave of fire.

"Flash Fire—Absorb!"

The two knights stepped forward. They didn't just take the hit; they leaned into it. Because they had both Weak Armor and Flash Fire, the impact of the attack activated both.

[Weak Armor Activated: Speed sharply rose!] [Flash Fire Activated: Fire power ignited!]

The knights became blurs of white-hot violet energy. Armarouge pinned the hybrid with a Psychic grip while Ceruledge flickered behind it for a Night Slash.

Ceruledge (Lvl 39) plunged its violet blade into the True Reflection. The glass didn't break; it screamed. The entire Hall of Mirrors inverted, the gray clones dissolving into raw, jagged potential shards.

But the Gate wasn't done. The collapse of the Second Layer didn't lead to a stairs—it led to a Freefall.

"Everyone! Return!" Zeth shouted as the floor vanished.

He was plummeting toward the Third Layer: The Core of Absolute Zero. Below him, the temperature dropped to a level where even the Lunar Charizard's flames began to turn into solid ice.

[Status: Layer 2 Cleared.] [Exp Gained: Team-wide +1 Level.]
