Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

~Myst Nix~

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop this late?" Roman asked the old man at the counter, who was currently looking like he'd be a scare away from having a heart attack right there.

"P-Please, just take my Lien and leave."

"Shh, calm down. We aren't here for your money." Roman glanced at one of the men behind him, jerking his chin forward. "Grab the dust."

The man stepped up to the counter, opening a briefcase he set down as he pulled out a tube and went to one of the tubes along the wall and inserted the smaller tube at the end, beginning to siphon the dust. Another man followed as another went around to check the store and the last made the man, presumably the store owner, give up the dust crystals he had at the counter.

I quickly, and as quietly as I could, ducked behind a bookcase as I glanced out, making sure I had enough time before one of the men would find me.

Okay I'm at the start of the story, that means I roughly know my timeframe, good. I however have no idea about who the hell I am beyond my name, no background or anything, not good. The moment I'm asked about my background I have absolutely nothing, but right now I have bigger problems to--

"Hey kid! Hands where I can see them." A voice called out behind me, making me flinch sightly as I slowly stood up, my hands raised slightly as I turned to look at the man, seeing him holding what resembled a "futuristic" pistol.

I stared at the man, his gaze on me until I heard another voice from the other side of the store. "Are you robbing me?"

"Yes!" Those words were soon followed up with the sound of breaking glass as the man was thrown though the front window of the shop, making the man lower his gun instinctively as he looked away and I took my chance.

I took out the Hoarfrost Bow from the system storage, a dark blue bow appeared in my hand. It was about the size of my arm, needing both hands to comfortably hold, it was cold to the touch, the ice reflecting light like perfect crystals as I nocked the string and two arrows suddenly appeared as I pulled the string back.

Had I ever used a bow? Hell no, but whatever I was doing felt right.

The man suddenly turned back, sensing something was off, a look of surprise appearing behind his red glasses before I let the string go and watched the arrows fly. The arrows immediately turning into flowing mist as they hit the man dead center.

The first thing that happened was the temperature seeming to drop multiple degrees immediately, making me shiver before the effect took place. The man suddenly became encased in ice. If you didn't know it was a person beforehand, you would just assume it was an incredibly real looking ice sculpture.

Taking advantage of the man being literally frozen, I used my ability, Holy Weapon, feeling a connection as a brief box appeared in my vision.

Damn it, of course there were slots! Forcing myself to ignore how annoying that would become, I drew upon the energy I felt in myself as the Hoarfrost bow took on a slight golden glow. Immediately I could feel it become stronger as I bashed the man encased in ice as he crumbled into pieces.

He broke, shattered into tiny pieces. I killed him. Holy fuck I killed him.

I was broken out of my small thought as Roman glanced over to where I was, seeing the bow in my hands as he pointed his cane to me, shooting out what sounded like a flare as I instinctively threw my body away, a small explosion happening where I just stood as I was blown farther back from the explosion.

"Fuck!" Feeling my back collide with a hard shelf made me cough, yet I forced myself up, seeing another explosion outside as I saw Roman dash away, the smoke clearing as I saw a girl.

She had on a black dress, it had a high collar and a red trim on the long-sleeved blouse. Over that was a black waist cincher with red lacing up the front, and a matching skirt with red lining and a red petticoat. She had black combat boots with red laces and trims.

She also had a red cloak fastened to her shoulders by cross-shaped pins. Her hair was black, the tips were red like many other things about her and her eyes were a beautiful shade of silver which I could make out even from inside the store.

Ruby Rose, in the flesh. She asked the old shopkeeper something before using her scythe/gun to shoot out a bullet, using the force to catch up to Roman as he climbed a ladder on the side of the building.

I found myself running after them, trying desperately to run from the fact that I had killed someone in the 10 minutes I've found myself in this place.

Finally reaching the roof of the building after the climb, I watched as Roman hopped onto what I knew was a Bullhead. It looked somewhat similar to a fighter jet, only with large jet engines and a "futuristic" look.

He tossed a red crystal down to Ruby before shooting at it with his cane/gun, when it exploded a woman jumped down from god knows where as the explosion was held back by a purple shield. Glynda Goodwitch.

The woman was blonde, her hair tied back in a bun with a curl hanging down the right side of her face. She had on a white long-sleeved, pleated blouse with a wide keyhole neckline and gauntlet cuffs that flared in pleats at the wrist. Her lower body was covered by a black high-waisted pencil skirt with bronze buttons and black fading into brown stockings.

She also had a purple cape at the back which was stylized to end in flames and arrows, with a row of diamond-shaped bronze beads on the back. As the wind blew her cape began flowing in the wind, my eyes instinctively going down to her surprisingly plump ass.

'No, bad!' I mentally berated myself, ignoring the random horny thought as I glanced back up to the bullhead which began attempting to take off, only for Glynda's riding crop to shoot out purple beams which struck the jet, hitting it's dense armor before Roman ran towards the pilot area, swapping places with someone I could not see yet could easily tell they were a woman and someone I already knew. Cinder Fall.

Before I could try to analyze her appearance, Glynda had shot out what I assumed to be dust which landed on a shield she projected above the jet, making clouds form as icicles rained down. Yet without even being phased, Cinder shot out a fireball from her left hand, the projectile colliding with a projected shield before the ash formed into a pillar of fire that flared up where Glynda stood just moments before.

'Less admiring, more action.' Summoning the Hoarfrost bow once more, I nocked the arrows onto the string as they appeared, drawing them back before releasing as they shot towards the bullhead.

Ice quickly formed around the cockpit where the arrows landed, not doing incredible damage, but leaving a sizeable dent in the armor as well as shattering the glass. Okay that was stronger than I thought.

Before I could repeat this process however, Cinder shot a fireball towards me as I felt something grab me from all around. Having to accept this sensation as I saw Glynda's riding crop pointed towards me, she pulled her arm back as I went flying towards her, landing just beside her and Ruby before she created a shield around us both as Cinder brought her arms in then threw them out, fire exploding around us as I looked up, seeing the bullhead's door close as her and Roman got away.

I took deep breaths, the bow going back to the system storage as I glanced over at Ruby who had literal sparkles in her eyes as she stared at Glynda.

"You're a Huntress....Can I have your autograph?"

――――――――――――――――――――――

"I hope you two understand that your actions have serious consequences." Goodwitch circled me and Ruby as we were sat down in an interrogation room, holding a tablet while lecturing us like a disappointed parent.

While Ruby stared down at her hands, I sighed, knowing this was most likely not going to end well for me before something else caught my attention.

Nice, because I needed a reminder I killed someone, and now know with certainty that I put myself on the radar of an immortal wizard who I knew would come through that door any minute now.
