Chapter 6 - Hands off my lunch

Chapter 6: Hands Off My Lunch

Jay's POV

Rule number one in Section E:

Never show weakness.

Rule number two:

Never bring good food.

I broke rule two.

The moment I opened my lunchbox—

Silence.

Not normal silence.

Hungry silence.

Felix sniffed dramatically.

"Is that… homemade?"

Cin leaned over my shoulder. "That smells illegal."

I slowly closed the lid.

"No."

Yuri stood up from two rows behind.

"Why does it smell like rich family?"

I blinked. "It's fried chicken. Calm down."

Blaster appeared out of nowhere.

"Share."

"No."

Felix placed his hand on his chest. "As your new friend, I deserve one piece."

"You deserve air," I replied.

Cin grinned. "You don't understand. Section E runs on other people's food."

Rory added, "Communism."

I held my lunchbox tighter.

"Touch it and lose a finger."

Felix gasped dramatically. "She's violent over chicken!"

Keifer, who had been quiet for once, finally spoke from behind.

"Relax."

I didn't turn.

"I am relaxed."

"Doesn't look like it."

I opened the lid slightly again to take one piece—

And in one smooth criminal move—

Felix stole it.

The class CHEERED.

My eye twitched.

Cin high-fived him.

"Mission successful!"

I stood up slowly.

"Felix."

He froze mid-bite.

"Yes?"

"You have five seconds."

"For what?"

"To run."

The class lost it.

He ran around the classroom laughing while chewing.

Cin tried to grab another piece.

I smacked his hand.

"Try again."

"Ow! You hit hard!"

"I warned you."

Blaster distracted me for one second—

And suddenly my lunchbox was in Keifer's hand.

Excuse me?

He inspected it like it was evidence.

"Smells good," he said casually.

"Put it down."

He took a piece.

Took a bite.

Maintained eye contact.

Slow chew.

The audacity.

"How is it?" Yuri asked.

Keifer nodded slightly.

"Not bad."

I crossed my arms.

"Wow. I feel honored. Section E's food critic approved it."

He ignored the sarcasm.

"Why didn't you bring extra?"

"For humans," I replied.

The class screamed.

Felix pointed at me. "She called us animals!"

"You act like it."

Cin leaned toward Keifer. "She's protecting it like it's gold."

Keifer smirked.

"Or maybe she doesn't know how to share."

I stepped closer.

"Sharing is for people who ask nicely."

He tilted his head.

"Please?"

The class gasped dramatically.

"BRO SAID PLEASE," Rory shouted.

I blinked.

Was that sarcasm?

Probably.

Still.

I grabbed one piece.

Held it in front of him.

"Open your hand."

He did.

I dropped the smallest, saddest piece possible.

The class booed.

He looked at it.

"That's disrespect."

"You earned it."

He leaned closer.

"You're stingy."

"You're greedy."

"You're dramatic."

"You're loud."

"You're cute when you're angry."

Silence.

Complete silence.

My brain stopped for half a second.

Did he just—

Cin screamed. "WHAT WAS THAT?"

Felix clutched his chest. "He switched genre!"

I blinked.

Recovered.

Fast.

"You're delusional when you're hungry."

The class burst out laughing again.

Keifer smirked slightly.

But I saw it.

That tiny reaction.

He enjoyed this.

Too much.

I grabbed my lunchbox back.

"Next time, bring your own food."

Felix sighed dramatically.

"Section E has fallen."

"No," Keifer said quietly.

He looked at me.

"It just got interesting."

I hate how my heart skipped.

Probably because I was angry.

Yes.

Angry.

Definitely not anything else.
