Chapter 2 - Chapter Two: Gentle Meteria

Since ancient times, there has been an underground secret realm known as the Underground City in the lower realm.

The secret realm will breed monsters, which will emerge on the ground and continue to kill.

The gods, taking pity on their people, sent down to the mortal realm as the first of their kind, the great immortal spirits known as the avatars of the gods, to help humanity.

Until the gods' numerous interventions yielded disastrous results, they decided to no longer directly interfere with humanity.

The gods sealed their divine power, descended to the mortal realm, and constructed a system that allows humanity to surpass its limits—the grace of the gods.

Using divine blood as a catalyst, a [container] is created for humanity that has reached its limits, thus accommodating more and stronger power.

This is the myth of the clan.

The city is called Orario—known as the center of the world, built on the dungeon.

The world's strongest adventurers, along with various human, demi-human, elf, and fairy creatures, live here.

Meteria is a member of the Hera Familia, the 'strongest' family in the world.

As a member of the strongest clan, she should be very strong; even if she looks weak, she has the strength to uproot a willow tree.

Unfortunately, Meteria did not have the talent to become an adventurer, and she also developed a rare skill that inflicted negative status effects after being inscribed with the grace of the gods.

It's like she's losing health every moment, and the negative effects of the skills grow stronger over time. Even items can't completely suppress the effects of these negative skills, resulting in her being extremely weak.

"Cough cough..."

As Meteria was speaking, she suddenly coughed.

Seeing her weak appearance, Tenraku was at a loss.

"It's okay, I'm used to it."

Meteria gave a gentle smile.

It was only then that Tenraku noticed the unhealthy pallor on her face.

This is what people commonly call a sickly young lady... She's clearly in a lot of pain, but she still tries to comfort herself.

Thinking about this, Tenraku felt ashamed of himself for 'misinterpreting' Meteria.

"More than that, can I know where you're from?"

Meteria made the gestures with great interest, and it took Tenraku a long time to understand the meaning of the sentence.

'How should I answer this?'

Tenraku pondered for a moment, then pointed to the sky.

"Could it be from the celestial realm?"

Meteria exclaimed in surprise.

"But that's not right, you are not a god."

Gods are fundamentally different from ordinary people. Even if their divine power is sealed, they will still have a strange impression when they see a god, like, "Ah, this is a god."

In particular, gods are perfect to mortals, which is not reflected in their personal image.

Although there are still differences in height, weight, age, and physical condition, the bodies of gods are perfect.

If there is any flaw, it is a 'divine imperfection,' completely different from that of humans.

The most obvious point is that gods do not need to use the toilet.

It was obvious that Tenraku was not a god, and Meteria couldn't understand the meaning of Tenraku's gestures for a while, which made her feel a little regretful.

"It's really strange that there are people in this world who don't understand the common language of the continent, nor the sacred language."

Meteria muttered to herself.

She spoke two languages: one was the common language of the continent, which is used worldwide, and the other was a sacred language brought by the gods of heaven.

But Tenraku didn't understand any of it, and his language was also 'unknown'.

'Where is he from?'

'How did he get to Orario?'

A variety of mysteries lingered in Meteria's mind, making her restless and intrigued.

Meteria loved stories of heroes and fairy tales, but even so, she couldn't figure out where the other person came from.

Recalling the plot of a certain story, it was as if she had picked up a 'hero' during his weak period and then embarked on a love story in the form of a hero's tale... Thinking of this, Meteria couldn't help but blush slightly.

Meteria glanced at Tenraku secretly and noticed that he was staring at her.

Seeing Tenraku's questioning gaze, Meteria's face flushed even more.

'Was I caught peeping?'

'How embarrassing.'

Patting her cheeks, Meteria cheered herself up and gave a gentle smile.

Looking at her smile, Tenraku put aside his worries.

Putting aside the fact that he had no other choice, just looking at her smile made Tenraku feel as if his body and mind were being purified.

That's so gentle.

"Oh, right, just a moment."

Meteria seemed to have thought of something, picked up the crystal chandelier beside her, and then opened a door and went inside.

When he was alone, Tenraku couldn't help but let his mind wander.

He had both fantasies about girls and fears about the unknown, which made him somewhat anxious.

After a while, Meteria appeared in front of Tenraku with a book in her arms, and he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Sorry it took a little time. Are you a little scared of being alone?"

Meteria, seeing Tenraku's slightly anxious expression, couldn't help but stick out her tongue playfully.

Seeing her actions, Tenraku couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed.

Meteria patted the chair enthusiastically and beckoned with her hand, making her intentions quite clear.

Tenraku sat down with a slight puzzlement, and then he saw a book on the table in front of Meteria with fairytale-like illustrations on it.

Is this... a children's primer?

"Let me teach you to read and write, as well as the common language of the mainland."

Meteria smiled gently and opened the book, which depicted some basic objects and animals.

"This word is pronounced 'νερό,' like water."

Meteria spoke, her voice soft and gentle, making one's heart flutter.

Meteria was giving Tenraku a clumsy lesson.

The two were very close; Tenraku could even feel the warmth of her breath. Occasionally, his fingers would brush against hers, making his heart flutter.

However, he quickly calmed down because Tenraku knew this was an opportunity. At least learning the language of this world would give him a higher chance of survival.

After studying diligently, Tenraku quickly memorized the contents of the book.

He wasn't a child; he could memorise it by reciting it once, silently repeating it in his mind, and then reading it aloud again.

Meteria seemed quite surprised by this; even in another world, his learning ability was considered quite good.

Is there any magic that can help with learning?

It seems... the magic system in this world is still an ancient version...

"Tenraku is really amazing."

Meteria pronounced Tenraku's name with difficulty, then reached out and patted Tenraku's head, saying with a big smile, "You're really amazing, you did a great job!"

Seeing how Meteria treated him like a child, Tenraku was speechless, but also genuinely happy inside.

Oh... he's become a wildcat tamed by a beautiful girl?

'But...it feels pretty good~'
