Geography, Regions, & Nations

Geenna: The continent where the story takes place.

Viera: The capital city of the Viera Kingdom. It holds one of the Academy's sanctioned docking zones, and is the primary site of the Academy Qualifying Exam.

Viera Kingdom: The most populated nation that stretches across the Northern Plains and Frostlands.

Viera Empire: A nation that once held undisputed claim over more than half of the continent before it divided.

Iskandar Archduchy: The only independent noble domain in the Viera Kingdom, located in the Frostlands.

Frostgate: The ancestral home, and capital of the Iskandar Archduchy.

Varethal: The civilian capital of the Iskandar Archduchy. It holds one of the Academy's sanctioned docking zones.

Manderjik Federation: A meritocratic federation, originally built on the alliance of a dozen independent nations, whose domain stretches across the Western Plains, Southern Plains, Swamplands, and Eastern Swamp. It holds two of the Academy's sanctioned docking zones, one of which is the setting of Volume 1's finale.

Holy Kingdom: A nation in the Northern Plains, east of the Viera Kingdom, dominated by the Celestial (Sun) Church. It holds one of the Academy's sanctioned docking zones.

Plains: Four large, flat regions across the continental Geenna, separated by the Dragon Mountains.

Elven Bloomlands: A region in the far Northeast of the continental Geenna. It holds one of the Academy's sanctioned docking zones.

Frostlands: A frozen region north of the Northern Plains, where powerful barbarians and monsters rampage.

Sporelands: A region west of the Northern Plains, and north of the Western plains.

Swamplands: A region west of the Eastern Swamp, south of the Southern Plains, and north of the Dustlands.

Dustlands: A sandy region in the far southwest of the continental Geenna.

Eastern Swamp: A region that stretches across the east coast of the Manderjik Federation, where the Naked River from the Dragon Mountains meets the ocean.

Dwarven Rocklands: A region in the far Southeast of the continental Geenna. It holds one of the Academy's sanctioned docking zones.

Dragon Mountains: A mountain range in the center of the continental Geenna that stretches into the Sporelands in the west, the Elven Bloomlands in the north, and the Dustlands in the south.

Druid's Forest: A region that separates the Northern plains from the Western and Southern Plains.

Heavenly Sphere & Demon Realm: Ancient realms of cosmic origin.

Institutions, Factions, & Orders

Mage Association: One of three continental non-governmental, independent organizations. The governing body that oversees magic and is the patron of the Academy.

Magic High Council: The supreme authority within the Mage Association.

Judicial Board: The law enforcement and investigative arm of the Mage Association.

Education Board: The operational arm of the Academy's governing body, made up of the Headmaster and Head Instructors. They handle day-to-day student discipline, academic covenants, curriculum enforcement, and direct campus operations,

Academic Board: The institutional arm of the Academy's governing body, made up of the Headmaster and Mage Association Delegates. They handle financial alignment, public relations, institutional reputation, and legal/sanctioning authority over high-ranking staff.

Celestial Sun Church: A powerful religious organization that issues prophecies and bribes Academy officials.

The Black Hand: A dark organization/adventurer faction of mysterious recruiters.

Ash Mage: The masked intruder responsible for the attack on the dormitories.

Devreux Knight and Mage Order: The highly mobilized military apparatus commanded by the Grand Duchy of Devreux.

Grand Duchy of Devreux: Celeste's incredibly wealthy and powerful noble lineage.

Archduchy of Iskandar: An incredibly powerful lineage that rules the Frostlands, who keep the Northern Barbarians checked.

Adventurer Guild: One of three continental non-governmental, independent organizations. The governing body that oversees monster extermination and Monstrology.

Confederation of Divine Churches: One of three continental non-governmental, independent organizations. It includes the Celestial (Sun) Church.

Academy Sectors & Groups

The Academy: The floating city institution where students are trained.

School of Magic & School of Academia: The two primary schools within the Academy.

Honor Class: The elite student cohort. There is a separate Honor Class for each year.

First Sector: The sector where the first-year students reside and learn.

Sixth Sector: The outer-staff sector in the center of the Academy.

Seventh Sector: The inner-staff sector in the center of the Academy.

Inferior Archives / Lesser Archives: The restricted library in the Seventh Sector.

Magic Theory Hall, Literature Hall, Science Wing: Specific academic halls.

Northern Dormitory: The specific dorm building housing the Honor Class in the first Sector.

First Headmaster's House: The estate housing Vigo's secret subterranean laboratory, in the Sixth Sector.

Magic Systems, Doctrines, & Concepts

14th Quotient: The hard proficiency limit for unblessed magic users.

Blessing of The Saint: A non-faith-based divine blessing that grants a power unique to the user. It is always active.

Monster Blessing: A blessing that grants a power unique to the user. It is always active.

Divine Blessings of Exercise and Protection: Standard faith-based blessings that grants power from the Celestial God

Elemental Blessings: A blessing that raises the hard proficiency limit in a specific magic element. Functions also include the amplification of magical efficiency, maximum output, and precise control.

Law of Affinity Execution: A mechanic that states that the rank of one's elemental blessing does not equate to power. Proficiency equates to power.

Equivalent Exchange: An obscure, dangerous art that uses blood to cast magic.

Spellcasting: The medium of Magic for mages.

Sword / Body Aura: The medium of Magic for physical combatants. Elemental/Divine Aura is the only thing physical combatants can use that can interact with magic, but it cannot affect the attributes of a spell.

Nameless Sword Arts / Nameless Arts: The alien, reality-bending martial arts Arthur uses to erase mana and fold space.

Deathly Aura: The Sword and/or Body Aura that the Nameless Arts grants Arthur. It directly interacts with Magic, and cancels the attributes of a spell.

Black Magic: Magic that functions outside of known General Practice, forbidden by the Mage Association.

General Practice Magic: All magic is magic. General Practice is the collection of spells that follow "standard" syntax and terms.

Magic Language—Human Language: The conflicting tongues that hinder magic.

Autonomic Merged Processor: The cognitive state Sinclair teaches Arthur to eliminate his inner monologue and merge his conscious/subconscious mind.

Magic Circles: A non-linear measurement of a mage's magic control.

Manaheart: A non-physical organ that generates mana.

Mana Pool: A non-physical organ that stores mana.

Mana Circuits: A non-physical organ for mana to travel through.

Mana Circuits (Magic Engineering): The wires of this fictional world.

Mage Circuits: Mana Circuits that have been refined and extended—the path of a Mage.

Integrated Circuits: Mana circuits that have been refined and integrated with the blood vessels—the path of a Swordsman.

Magical Ranks & Proficiencies

Beginner-rank, Intermediate-rank, Advanced-rank, Expert-rank, Saint-rank, King-rank, Emperor-rank, God-rank: The standard, non-linear tiered ranking system for combatants and spirits.

One Star to Five Stars: Arthur's custom metric for ranking proficiency in the Nameless Arts.

Texts, Books, & Documents

Dialogue on the Nature of Thought, Being, and Society (The Dialogue): A cynical text on psychology, philosophy, and sociology authored by William Sinclair.

Speculum Alchemiae: The alchemical volumes Vigo uses as a front for his forbidden research.

Magnum Opus: Vigo's 55-variable formula intended to forge a supreme mage by granting a God-rank Mana Pool.

Nameless Manuscript: The martial text Arthur studies.

Materials, Elements, & Alchemy

Arcanite: A virtually indestructible metal used for Black Hand tokens and Arthur's sword.

Sivanamine: A highly potent, toxic alchemical stimulant Arthur abuses to function without sleep.

Petrifying Ichor: The substance Arthur uses to paint fake blessing marks onto his arm.

Sacinis .99:1: The final, perfected alchemical correction Vigo scrawls on the floor before detonating.

Platinum Academy Credit: A high-value currency minted by the Academy, worth 10,000 credits.

Events & Formal Terms

Academy Qualifying Exam(s) / Academy Requalifying Exam: The rigorous entrance and probation-retention exams.

Ash Mage Incident: The sanitized, official political designation given by the Academic Board to the attack that killed Cedric.

Guest Visitation: A formal Academy event exploited by intruders.
