Chapter 12 - A-Team

6 months had gone by on this missions. Humiliation, Paris, London, Hong Kong, Wakanda, hell, we've been all over the planet. The worst of it is the fact we've found the black widow every time with her escaping with ease.

"Hey! Stop moving your hand," Clint said. Currently he is frying an egg on a pan over my suit using the heat I create. About two months ago the guys at the lab gave me a new upgrade where the thermal heat from the suit couldn't be picked up on radar. Not that it worked with getting close to my target.

"When can we move in?" I asked, "Why afraid of catching a cold kid?" Clint said, turning the egg over.

"It's been three days since we've staked out these abandoned buildings. She's here, we can blow up the two buildings where she's most likely to be in if you're too lazy to climb the staircase." Lately I've felt mister Hawkeye too lenient with our encounters with this black widow.

Clint began to eat from the pan and spoke with his mouth full, "I don't want to kill. I've told you this, I can fix her. I spoke with her that one time in-"

"She's a spy and an assassin. It's in her tool kit to sweet talk her targets." I retorted.

He licked his fingers after eating, "You make for a fine stove."

"Clint..." I responded with irritation at how care free he was with the situation.

"Has she even tried to kill us, I mean really try. Sure she shot... around me and nicked you a couple times. But no else has been hurt. Well, with the exception of her targets."

"She's shot me three times!" He coughed, "Headshots!"

I stood up "with a sniper rifle, each time when I jumped from a building or a helicopter. Your little saint wanted me to die from the height.

Clint shrugged, "she was buying time."

"Bitch please, I'm going to end her." I exited the room and started to go down the hallway

Clint yelled from the room, "you took the pan!"

Once outside I scanned the surroundings. It was snowing. It was normal in Russia I suppose. Then I heard Hawkeye zipline down with an arrow he had used.

"I call the right one, call me if you need an adult." He said walking off.

Entering my building I checked every room, careful of every angle and trap someone trained would lay.

It wasn't until the top floor I spotted a trip wire. The wire was in a large room with a door closed on the other end. Surprisingly there were no hidden dangers as I proceeded to walk to the door.

Turning the door knob, I prepared for confrontation. Instead I heard the low humming of electronics and found a mattress lying on the floor. In a garbage bag were trash from fast food to which all the military rations remained closed.

On the walls were documents from her "work". However what drew my attention was a map and a knife stabbed into it, a harbour.

"Clint, I found the widow's nest." I said through our coms. No response, "Clint you there?" Nothing.

She's got him. Immediately I boosted my powers and ran at the windows, jumping from the fifteenth floor. I landed on the ninth floor of the building next to us.

Thanks to my luck I landed on the opposite side of the room where Clint was. He was strapped to a chair with the Widow leaning on a desk next him.

"Damn that's gotta be a new record kid." Clint said.

The black widow looked at me grinning "you here to arrest me? I'm afraid-"

I interrupted her and threw the metal object in my right hand at her. She dodged, "Was that a pan?" I dashed towards her, "I'm gonna fry your ass."

Throwing a right hook she ducked and kicked my leg that barely moved me. Heating my suit enough to melt through metal I slashed at her. Seeing that each of my hits grew faster and the fact she knew bullets wouldn't work she proceeded to run.

Rentlessly I followed burning through walls, moving from floor to floor until we were outside.

Due to the snow outside she mistook a step for snow and slipped on ice.

I stood above milliseconds away frompunching straight through her, "wait!"

she yelled.

It fell on deaf ears and my punch flew. Inches away from hitting her chest a strong force of wind rammed itself into me from behind, an explosion.

The hit launched me into a pile of snow meters away. Getting back up I saw Clint helping the Black Widow up. I pulled my two guns from my holsters aiming straight at them. "Whoa now, chill out kid, same side remember."

"It might be your shit aim but I swear you just shook hands with the target," I lined up the gun for the shot.

"Target is a bit too far, kid. More like an enemy, who just turned into an ally." He said with hands raised walking slowly towards me.

"Bullshit!" I prepared to pull the trigger when the sounds of a quinjet rang above.

On a speaker spoke my boss, "this is Nick Fury, stand down Soldier. Don't make

me repeat myself, agent."

"Sorry kid but I snitched to dad" said Clint motioning to my guns.

I hoisted them, "I'll remember this."

Waiting for the quinjet to land, more could be heard above and vehicles from field operatives rode in.

Fury got off, "at least I know you follow orders."

"Sir, I suggest we eliminate her." I said.

"I've heard your point loud and clear Solider."

"but sir-"

"Listen kid, your on my roster to follow orders. Not to think, I think and don't follow orders, at least not yours. Now get in the quinjet and do your job." He instructed looking at me with his one good eye.

"Sir yes, sir." I replied walking onto the jet

On the jet we flew for half an hour until we landed at a harbor. There were already agents here breaking into various cargo crates. My job was simple and easy for a mutt to do. Opening crates we found piles of cash, guns, and a few classified documents.

It was routine and boring. Heating up my hands and melting the locks I found, "Children?"

They huddled around each other, cuddling for warmth. They carried stuffed animals and upon closure inspections were all girls.

I took a step into the cargo to help them but they scurried further in, they're afraid of me.

"This is agent Elite, I've found children. Need urgent assistance." I said through comms.

"On our way." an agent replied.

I watched as they patiently escorted them out. By then a bald agent with glasses came up to me, "We believe that's all agent, thank you for the assistance. Fury wishes to speak with you on the helicarrier."

"Are they going to be fine?" I nodded towards the girls.

He smiled, "they'll be in professional hands. Your Quinjet awaits." And left.

On the jet home I felt an uneasiness in my mind. Was it because I couldn't help those girls? or something else entirely?

On the Helicarrier I was told to head for one of the private offices as Fury waited for me.

Opening the door I saw Hawkeye and Black Widow standing in front of Fury's desk. He was sitting and signed for me to stand next to them.

"Would you look at that, my new A-team." Fury said.

"Pardon?" The word escaped my mouth.

"It's perfect, can't you see. Before agent Romanoff ran circles around you two and now she covers both of your weaknesses."

Agent... Romanoff... It doesn't sit well with me, "sir if I may-"

"Remember our previous conversation solider." He eyed me, daring me to continue. Seeing my absence he spoke "Sadly your first mission is separate. Hawkeye and Black Widow will head to Budapest."

How is he trusting her this quickly, "relax kid, I took care of myself way before taking care of your hot headed ass."

"shooting an arrow into my ass isn't!-" Fury stopped me, "agents, you have your mission and you have yours." He tossed a folder at me.

Only authorized eyes only, it read. I scanned the first page rapidly, "When do I depart?"

"Wow he forgets his friends fast huh?" said Widow , mocking me.

I tightened my fist, "Alright I'm going to take missey here before round two starts." Clint patted my shoulder, "Don't do anything I wouldn't do." And left with my replacement.

Fury waited until they left before standing up and made his way to stand in front of the desk. "On file the mission says Germany is the location. That's a false lead I checked already."

He passed me a note with a location in the States, "with my one good eye I'm seeing everything there can be on the table. Yet my other eye is telling me it's a pretty picture. No one else knows where you're going. I hope this shows the trust I have in you."

It's only because I'd do anything to get the job done, "yes sir."

"Good, but before I forget, head to Xavier's little school. He's been pestering me with your whereabouts, that's an order. Also, it wouldn't hurt to get some help." He said

"Is that all sir?", Fury nodded. "Keep an eye open. Never know what tricks HYDRA will pull.
