Chief Zhang stared at her for a while and then asked,
"How did you know my name?"
"I don't know how. I just know," the voice answered.
The man narrowed his eyes. What exactly was she?
"Is it okay for me to see your memories?" He asked again.
"Why?"
"Because your vessel needs to get it back," he replied.
The voice paused then said, "It would hurt her when the memories come rushing in."
"That's why I'm here. To make sure she's alright."
"Fine. Do as you wish."
Chief Zhang sniffed. Finally, time to get it over and done with.
And then the Chief closed his eyes. With a zap-like movement, the events started replaying.
Nyssa felt it before she understood it—the sharp pull behind her eyes, the violent surge of something ancient drawing its way through the walls of her mind. Her breath caught, her fingers digging into the ground as darkness swallowed her whole.
What was happening?!
And then, there was light. A blinding, endless one.
Then, she found herself in a palace.
