Flygon landed on the roof. The concrete was slick. Daichi stepped off and tapped a Pokéball. Hippowdon appeared. He pressed its weight into the roof. A subsonic pulse moved through the building and into the city's foundation. It closed his eyes trying to feel the vibrations.
It hit something hard. A metallic echo came back from deep underground.
"Below us," Daichi said.
He returned Hippowdon. He found a maintenance hatch and kicked it open. He dropped into the dark.
The sewers were a labyrinth of pipes and dripping water. Daichi walked towards the power junction. He rounded a corner and stopped.
The Assassin stood in the center of the junction. The white mask hid their face.
"You're late, Elite," the Assassin mocked.
The Mawile turned. Its steel jaws snapped. A pink aura lit up the wet walls.
Daichi reached for a Pokéball, but he stopped.
He saw the assassin throw out 24 pokeballs calling out numerous fairy pokemon. Daichi's eyes widened. He was outnumbered.
Daichi stood still. He didn't move his hand from his belt.
"The Guild wanted to make sure you didn't leave this place ," the Assassin said.
The Sylveon's feelers glowed. The Grimmsnarl flexed its hair-like muscles. The Mawile growled.
Daichi let out a a short breath the enemy had too many fairy types, his usual sandstorm wouldn't work properly because of the small space .
"You're dead, Elite," the Assassin snarled.
Daichi didn't flinch. He reached for a secondary set of Pokéballs on his belt. These weren't his Ground-type team. "This sewer is the perfect place to counter you sandstorm because of the small space , now what will you do without your sand core ." He mocked.
"I have three cores to be precise ," Daichi calmly replied . "You prepared for my sandstorm and for Drake's dragons. You didn't prepare for my plague."
He threw all his six pokeballs. Releasing six Pokemon.
Salazzle hissed, her tail flicking. Dragalge stood still in the humid air, its kelp-like skin dripping poison. Nidoking slammed his feet down, the Life Orb on his neck glowing with a dull red light.
Crobat screeched, hanging from a pipe. Gengar merged out of Daichi's own shadow, grinning. Drapion snapped its claws, its armor shimmering.
The Assassin froze. The type-advantage had flipped instantly.
"Poison," the Assassin whispered.
"Every single one," Daichi said.
Nidoking roared. The ground beneath the twenty-four Fairies cracked as his Sheer Force ability activated. Salazzle lunged forward, a blur of speed. She didn't target the Pokémon, she went for the Steel-type Mawile.
"Nidoking, Sludge Wave," Daichi commanded. "Salazzle, Corrosive Gas. Kill the light."
Nidoking slammed his palms into the sewer water. A massive wave of purple sludge erupted, sweeping toward the horde. Salazzle exhaled a thick, grey cloud that began to melt the Mawile's steel hide. The assasin hastily recalled mawile, it was his trump card he couldn't afford to lose her now.
The Assassin tried to command his team. "Light Screen! Protect!"
"Too slow," Daichi taunted.
Gengar vanished and reappeared behind the Sylveon, his hands glowing with Shadow Ball energy. Crobat became a blur, using Cross Poison to shred the nearest Gardevoir.
The pink aura of the Fairies began to dim under the purple haze of the Poison-types. The narrow sewer junction was no longer a trap for Daichi. It was a slaughterhouse for the Guild.
"Now," Daichi said. "Show me what's behind the mask."
The lead Assassin signaled. Six Fairy-types—a Clefable, two Gardevoir, and three Sylveon—lunged forward. The sewer tunnel turned bright pink.
"Sludge Wave," Daichi said.
Nidoking slammed his fists into the water again .A wall of toxic purple sludge surged forward. The Clefable tried to use Follow Me to draw the hit, but the wave was too wide. The sludge hit it head-on. The Clefable collapsed instantly, its skin turning a sickly green. One down.
The two Gardevoir used Psychic to lift the sludge, trying to shield the others.
"Gengar, Shadow Punch," Daichi commanded.
Gengar vanished into the floor. He reappeared behind the first Gardevoir and drove a fist made of dark energy into its back. The Gardevoir gasped and fell into the sewage. Two down.
The second Gardevoir spun around to blast Gengar, but Crobat was faster. It used Cross Poison, its wings glowing purple. It sliced through the Gardevoir's defense in a blur. The Gardevoir hit the wall and slumped down. Three down.
The three Sylveon lashed out with their feelers, glowing with energy.
"Drapion, Cross Poison. Salazzle, Sludge Bomb," Daichi said.
Drapion intercepted the feelers with its heavy claws, snipping through the energy ribbons. It lunged and struck the first Sylveon in the chest. Four down.
At the same time, Salazzle spit three globes of concentrated poison. The first Sylveon dodged, but the second one took the hit in the face. It shrieked and fainted from the toxicity. Five down.
"Dragalge, Sludge Bomb," Daichi ordered.
Dragalge fired a high-pressure shot of poison from its mouth. The attack hit another Sylveon mid-leap, slamming it against a rusted pipe. Six down.
Six out of the total 24 were down within two minutes, the assassin barely got time to command his Pokemon. He had to end this fast otherwise the higher ups would have his head for failing this mission.
He hastily commanded his other 18 pokemon, he had to complete this mission anyhow. He wasn't scared of the Hunters Guild, he was sacred of those above them.
