Chapter 10 - Meeting and assignments

The steel doors ground open. Sidney walked in first. He flipped a silver coin, caught it, and sat down. He looked at the empty chairs. Glacia entered next. She moved to her seat and sat. The air around her grew cold.

Drake followed. His boots thudded on the floor. He sat and rested his hands on the wood. He smelled of salt and smoke. All the executives and higher ups stayed dead silent .

Daichi was already there. He stood by a pillar , staying silent.

Steven Stone sat at the head of the table. A visible pressure shimmered around him. He looked at the four of them. Ignoring the higher ups who were sweating at the presence of these five trainers.

"The Guild hit our convoy," Steven said. "They killed four Aces. They used a Fairy-type to do it. They think we are a joke because we don't kill. I think it's time we prove them why the league had been the most dominant force in this world."

Sidney stopped flipping his coin. He leaned forward, his voice traced with venom. "They think they found a weakness," he said with disdain. "Do they think we just sit in these chairs and wait for orders."

"They are confident," Glacia added sending a chill down every executives spine. "Too confident."

Drake looked at Steven. "What's the play?"

Steven tapped the table. "The Council wants to talk. I don't. I want the Guild to understand what happens when they touch our people. I cannot leave this building without starting a political fire, but you four are not bound by the same strings."

He turned to Drake.

"The Southern Branch is in the Jagged Pass. They think the mountain hides them. Go there. Destroy the base. Leave nothing behind, capture every single person possibile, and ensure that you don't kill too much people, wait for reinforcements to arrive before you strike."

Drake stood up. "Understood."

Steven then looked at Daichi.

"The assasin is a specialist. They are hiding in Mauville. They think they can disappear in the city. Go find them. Give him to Sidney once you capture him. After that ,head towards Drake, both of you along with 15 Elite trainers are to raid the branch together"

Daichi stepped out of the shadows. He checked his gear. He didn't speak. He just nodded.

"The Guild made a mistake," Steven said. "They think this is a game of politics. I don't know what they aim to achieve from this but they will pay for what they have done."

Sidney stood up. He pocketed his coin. "I'll handle the perimeter," he said. "Nothing gets in or out of the city while Daichi is hunting, after that I'll do the same for when Drake and Daichi are raiding the base."

Glacia rose from her chair. "I will monitor the coast. If they try to flee by sea... Let's say they won't have a pleasant time."

Steven looked at the executives. "Gather The elite trainers from The Gamma and Bravo squad , and prepare roughly 100 ace trainers to support Sidney and Glacia ."

The four of them turned toward the exit. The meeting was short. The orders were clear.

"Don't take too long," Steven said.

Drake grunted. "We won't."

They walked out. The doors closed behind them with a heavy thud. The four Elites walked down the long corridor toward the hangar. Their footsteps echoed against the metal floor. No one spoke.

They reached the heavy blast doors of the launch bay. The doors slid open. The wind from the storm outside rushed in. It smelled of rain and jet fuel.

Drake whistled. A massive Salamence dropped from the rafters and landed on the steel platform. The ground shook. The dragon roared, its wings snapping open. Drake climbed onto its back. He didn't use a saddle. He grabbed the ridges on its neck.

Daichi walked to the edge of the platform. He tossed a Pokéball. Flygon appeared in a flash of light. It hovered in the wind, its red goggles steady. Daichi jumped on. He tightened the straps on his gloves.

Sidney and Glacia stood by the control panel.

"Don't let the old man have all the fun, Daichi," Sidney shouted over the wind.

Glacia simply nodded. She looked at the horizon.

Drake looked at Daichi. "I'm heading North. The mountains are going to burn. Good luck in the city, lad."

Daichi simply nodded

Drake grunted and signaled his Salamence. The dragon leaped. It beat its wings once and vanished into the clouds. A sonic boom followed a second later.

Daichi leaned forward. Flygon dived. They dropped straight down toward the ocean before leveling out. They headed West, skimming the tops of the waves. The lights of Mauville City appeared in the distance through the haze.
