Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: Terrifying Learning Ability

"Just like that... he's up?"

Krillin watched Trunks hovering half a meter off the ground, wobbling back and forth like a tumbler toy.

The teaching theories he had been about to explain were forced back down his throat.

You had to know that in the original story, it took Gohan quite a long time to teach Videl how to use Bukūjutsu.

Even Goten had only gradually mastered it through sparring with Trunks.

But this kid had just barely started.

Krillin hadn't even finished explaining the circulation route of Ki, and Trunks had already flown up purely by intuition.

"Wow! Dad, look! I'm flying!" Trunks shouted excitedly.

But the moment he lost focus, the balance of Ki he had just established instantly collapsed.

"Ouch!"

The little guy dropped headfirst like a heavy weight, his forehead slamming directly into the lawn as he bit into a mouthful of mud.

"Pfft." Krillin couldn't help bursting into laughter.

Trunks spat out the grass roots and mud and scrambled back to his feet.

Instead of feeling discouraged, his face was filled with even more excitement.

"That feeling just now... it was like swimming in water!"

A light of comprehension flickered in Trunks' big black eyes.

"As long as I push the Ki downward, my body will go up, right?"

Krillin stopped laughing and nodded. "The principle is correct, but the key lies in being steady. What you did just now was like a jet plane taking off, too much thrust and too little control."

"Again!" Trunks didn't need any prompting. He immediately closed his eyes once more.

This time, he wasn't in a hurry to leave the ground.

Instead, he took a deep breath, and an extremely faint white aura began to appear around his small body.

Krillin activated the observation mode of Multiple Thinking.

In his vision, the Ki inside Trunks' body was self-correcting at an alarming speed.

That previous failure wasn't meaningless.

Trunks' body seemed to have remembered the feeling of losing balance and was instinctively adjusting the output frequency of his Ki.

Three seconds later.

Trunks' feet lifted off the ground again.

This time, he didn't wobble.

Five seconds later.

He slowly rose to the same height as Krillin's line of sight.

Ten seconds later.

The kid even attempted a somersault in midair. Although he stumbled slightly upon landing, he didn't fall.

"Is this the gold standard of Saitama genes?" Krillin felt a little envious.

When he had first transmigrated, the System had practically tortured him half to death just to make his body adapt to Ki.

Meanwhile, this kid had been born with top-tier factory settings.

"Dad! I want to fly higher!"

Having tasted success, Trunks' courage immediately swelled.

Ignoring Krillin's attempt to stop him, he suddenly increased his Ki output and shot into the sky like an out-of-control cannonball.

"Hey! Slow down!" Krillin had no choice but to flash upward and follow him.

High in the sky, the wind roared loudly.

For the first time, Trunks looked down at his own manor and the entire West City from a bird's-eye view.

That feeling of freedom and weightlessness made him burst into loud laughter.

He darted up and down through the air, circling the clouds one moment and chasing passing birds the next.

Although his movements were still clumsy and he often spun in place after turning too sharply, his natural aerial combat instincts were already beginning to show.

Krillin folded his arms and followed at a moderate distance behind him.

Watching his son's figure flying freely, his gaze gradually grew deeper.

Five years.

During these five years, he had lived a peaceful life as both a father and a husband.

Every day, aside from completing the System's bizarre tasks, he spent his time with his family.

Such a comfortable life could easily dull a person's fighting spirit.

But he had never forgotten that countdown.

[System Prompt: Time remaining until the Saiyan Raditz arrives on Earth: 3 days.]

The red warning text flickered across his retina, reminding him that the grand epic of the Dragon Ball world was finally about to begin its true prologue.

"Trunks, have you had enough fun?" Krillin called out.

His voice pierced through the wind and clearly reached Trunks' ears.

Trunks, who had been chasing an eagle, stopped and hovered in the air, still looking excited.

"Dad, let me play a little longer! I feel like I've completely mastered it!"

"Completely mastered it?" Krillin raised an eyebrow. "Then try to catch me. If you catch me, I'll let you eat two extra dinosaur steaks tonight."

"Really? You promise!" Trunks' eyes lit up. As a little foodie, his motivation exploded instantly.

He kicked the air fiercely, turning into a purple blur as he lunged straight toward Krillin.

His speed was impressive, roughly half the speed of sound.

For a five-year-old child, he was practically a monster.

But in Krillin's eyes, it might as well have been standing still.

Krillin didn't even move. He simply tilted his body slightly, and Trunks' small hand brushed past his clothes.

"Too slow," Krillin commented calmly.

"Again!"

Trunks refused to admit defeat. He abruptly braked in the air and used the rebound force to spin around and charge again.

Once.

Twice.

Ten times.

The sun gradually sank below the horizon, dyeing the sky orange-red.

Trunks was now panting heavily, drenched in sweat. The Ki in his body was nearly exhausted, and even maintaining flight had become difficult.

Yet Krillin still floated there with his arms crossed, not having moved even a single meter.

"I can't... Dad, you're cheating..." Trunks collapsed onto a cloud, drifting slowly with the wind.

"You're basically a monster."

Krillin flew over and grabbed his son by the back of his collar, lifting him up like a kitten.

"Remember this feeling of exhaustion."

Krillin gazed at the sun slowly disappearing beyond the horizon. His voice lost some of its usual playfulness and carried a faint chill.

"In this world, if you aren't strong enough, you won't even have the chance to run away."

Although Trunks didn't fully understand why his father had suddenly become so serious, he instinctively sensed something and nodded obediently.

"Let's go home."

Krillin grabbed his son and instantly accelerated, turning into a beam of light that shot toward the ground.

When they arrived home, Bulma had already prepared a luxurious dinner.

Seeing the father and son return, she began complaining while directing the robots to serve the food.

"Where did you two go to play like maniacs? Trunks is covered in dirt, and his clothes are filthy."

"I took him out for a little special training," Krillin said with a grin.

He set Trunks down, and the moment the little guy smelled the food, he completely forgot about his exhaustion and rushed toward the dining table.

Krillin didn't sit down immediately.

Instead, he walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked out at the bustling night view of West City.

Three days.

Raditz.

That "low-class warrior" with a battle power of only 1,500, the guide who opened the Saiyan Saga.

Krillin pulled a capsule from his pocket. Inside were the Senzu Beans he had specially stored.

He checked the quantity.

Plenty.

"System, open the Attribute Panel."

[Host: Krillin]

[Current Panel Data]

[Charm: 199 (Locked - Mortal Peak)]

Looking at the panel filled with data, Krillin smiled with satisfaction.

Over the past five years, in order not to scare Earth's martial artists and to avoid attracting the premature attention of beings at the Supreme Kai level.

He had deliberately suppressed his aura to an extremely low level.

But in three days, he planned to stretch his muscles a little.

After all, that guy who constantly mocked others as "scum with a battle power of only five" was about to arrive.

If Krillin didn't let him experience what true despair felt like, wouldn't that be a waste of the "experience pack" he had delivered all the way across the sea of stars?
