After Piccolo was punched into an existential crisis by Krillin and fled, the tournament arena entered a strange state of forced normalcy.
Workers hurriedly filled the massive crater with fresh concrete while others swept away broken debris.
The announcer crawled out from under his table, adjusted his crooked tie, and forced a professional smile.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Although there was a minor… interruption earlier…"
"Our tournament will continue!"
"That green fellow has already been driven away by Contestant Krillin! Everyone is safe!"
Scattered applause echoed. Most spectators still looked dazed.
After witnessing a punch that tore open the sky, everything else felt small.
Krillin sat casually in the waiting area, legs crossed.
A translucent interface appeared before his eyes.
[Boredom Relief Mode Activated.]
[Real-Time Combat Power Monitoring Online.]
"Next up! Second Semi-Final Match!"
"Goku versus Tien Shinhan!"
The two stepped onto the stage from opposite ends.
Goku, now taller and leaner, wore his orange Kame School gi. His eyes were bright and calm.
Tien Shinhan stood opposite him, muscles taut, three eyes burning with focus.
"Goku, it's our turn." Tien cupped his fists.
Krillin's overwhelming display hadn't broken his resolve. It had sharpened it.
"Hehe, you've gotten stronger too," Goku said cheerfully.
"But you still won't beat me."
"Big talk," Tien replied coldly.
"If it's you, I'm confident."
The gong sounded.
Both vanished instantly.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
White shockwaves burst across the arena.
The audience saw nothing but shattered tiles and flying debris.
"So fast!"
Even the cameras couldn't keep up.
The two separated.
Tien Shinhan panted lightly.
He hadn't gained an inch.
Goku stood relaxed, not even winded.
He assumed a loose, flowing stance—hands relaxed, body swaying like a willow.
Master Roshi's sunglasses slid down his nose.
"That stance… complete relaxation with total awareness."
"Mr. Popo taught me," Goku grinned. "Be as still as the sky, as swift as lightning. If that's all you've got, Tien Shinhan, you'll lose."
"Don't underestimate me!" Tien launched forward again.
"Volleyball Fist!"
He struck Goku upward, appearing above him for a crushing follow-up—
But Goku vanished.
"Over here."
Goku stood calmly at Tien's original position.
"No afterimage," Krillin muttered from below. "Pure speed and refined Qi control."
Tien landed, grim.
"Fine. Then face my ultimate move."
He formed a hand seal.
"Four Witches Technique!"
His body split—
Two.
Then four.
Four identical Tien Shinhans surrounded Goku.
The audience gasped.
"All four are real!" Tien's voices overlapped. "Let's see you defend from every direction!"
The four attacked simultaneously.
Front. Back. Left. Right.
Goku dodged, but in the confined space, he took several hits and rolled across the stage.
"Hahaha! This is the Crane School's secret technique!" Krillin handed his popcorn to Oolong.
"If Goku can't solve this, I'm making him do ten thousand push-ups later."
"You're not worried?" Yamcha asked nervously.
"It's simple math," Krillin replied calmly. "One divided by four."
On the stage, Goku stood up and dusted himself off.
"I get it. Your power's weaker."
"What?"
"You split your strength too." Goku raised one finger.
"Each of you only has a quarter."
He vanished.
No afterimage.
Just absence.
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
Four crisp impacts.
All four Tien Shinhans staggered back, clutching their swollen cheeks.
Goku reappeared in the center, casually holding Tien's belt.
He tossed it aside.
"Got any new tricks? If not… I'm getting serious."
