Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 "Psychic Powers, A First Look at Meditation"

"I can't take it anymore, I'm going to die..."

In the end, the Fennekin, having only mastered a half-finished "Swift," was just playing ball with itself.

The midday bath was a complete waste; Link collapsed into bed as soon as he got back to his room.

Playing with a psychic Pokémon that could easily sense the entire court was a recipe for disaster. Wait, Fennekin doesn't seem to be a psychic Pokémon... that only proves just how outstanding its secondary type and Special Attack talent truly are.

Even a Fennekin hatched by chance is this outstanding; Link couldn't help but wonder if the problem lay with his luck or the Knowledge Badge that shone during hatching.

The essence of the badge is the power of subjective thought; should it also be effective on people in this world?

After another bath, boiling water, and cleaning and grooming Fennekin, the newborn fox also fell asleep from exhaustion.

Taking this opportunity, Link subconsciously pulled out the Psychic-type Pokémon training guide, "Psychic Powers, A First Look at Meditation," provided by the Pokémon Center.

Between the trainer and the Pokémon, the former needs more learning and effort.

As a trainer, he knew he still had many shortcomings and needed to spend several times the time to catch up; he couldn't waste Focus's talent.

"Psychic powers are the mental strength gained through thinking and calculation, altering the material world through one's own perception. Both humans and Pokémon can master them."

Opening the book, *Psychic Powers: A First Look at Meditation*, the opening words made Link want to eat a peach—could he, with his simulator and increased intelligence, also master psychic powers?

Most Pokémon have the potential to learn psychic moves, some through thought, others through instinct. Psychic-type Pokémon are particularly adept at this, easily exerting influence a thousand times greater than ordinary Pokémon.

Humans, even with training, can achieve the same, but due to their lack of natural talent, theoretically they can only bend a spoon at most.

"Salvador, in reality there are supermodel monsters like Sabrina, who can easily turn people into dolls. Her psychic abilities are almost on par with second-tier legendaries."

Can Mewtwo turn people into dolls?

Probably not. If it weren't the weakest among all the first-tier legendaries, it wouldn't be constantly suffering setbacks, failing to achieve its goal after more than twenty years.

Link, seeing this, was filled with anticipation, wanting to immediately try the so-called "meditation" to gain psychic abilities to assist in Pokémon training and battles.

  ~ Turning the page.

However, because systematic meditation methods have been lost, trainers are advised to try perceiving their own inner spiritual talents; this will not be elaborated upon here.

  "Damn it!"

Link, exasperated, threw the book onto the bed as if it had touched something dirty.

Faced with an author who stirred his emotions only to then pour cold water on them, his current mood was exactly like that of a military strategist who died before achieving his ambitions, leaving behind only tears of sorrow—"I'm so angry!"

  "Fu?"

"Did I wake you? It's nothing, go back to sleep, we're going out to play this afternoon."

After his anger subsided, Link, being an adult after all, picked up the book again.

  ~

Without meditation, the key to unlocking one's spiritual talent lies in perception.

Theoretically, everyone possesses superpowers, but they're all barely noticeable, unlike psychic Pokémon who are born with the ability to perceive and train.

Therefore, one can try emptying one's mind, sensing one's inner self and the world, constructing logical and orderly patterns in one's mind, and trying to learn from psychic Pokémon.

Link thought to himself, "I get it, isn't this just 'visualization'?" The flavor of a reskinned Pokémon fantasy beast-taming novel immediately came over him.

To improve, he had to grit his teeth and endure it, trying to empty his mind, forgetting himself and the world, and randomly picking a relatively easy-to-recognize psychic-type Pokémon in his mind—the distinctive figure of Calyrex.

Unfortunately, Link practiced like this for an hour and almost fell asleep, but it didn't have any effect whatsoever...

  ...

Meanwhile, far across the ocean in the Galar region's Crown Snowfield.

In this frigid land where towering snow-capped mountains stand, in the forgotten Crown Temple, a mysterious being, dormant for three thousand years, awakens in a daze.

This is the legendary King who, in the distant past, used his power to fight against the Darkness, then lost his power and vanished without a trace. With the passage of time, the Galatian royal family concealed his existence, making even his very existence uncertain. The

"King," who once roamed Galar, now devoid of the people's adoration, awakens and looks around.

Desolation surrounds him; he has lost his beloved horse.

The legendary King, who once saved the people of Galar, now lacks even the power to save himself.

Lonely and helpless, he does not want to disappear. He has not yet seen the world of his dreams, he still longs to ride with his friends.

Why, then, did he awaken now, when no one remembers the legendary heroes, causing the world to recall the legendary King?

At this very moment, he senses a burning intent emanating from the distant east.

This emotion is not faith, yet it is equally sincere, an incredible intent he has never felt before.

A strong will, mixed with a few other strands of faith, restored its consciousness, allowing it to feel the warmth of the sun in this icy wasteland.

Unfortunately, this was still not enough to restore its mobility.

[It wants to train its superpowers to help the Fennekin.]

But between its own rescue and the expectations of others, the King of Legends chose to respond to their wishes.

The superpowers born from the vast forest traversed mountains, snowfields, and oceans, heading towards its destination…

  …

  "This…this is…"

Suddenly, Link opened his eyes in surprise. He could sense the sparks of spirituality within his own mind!

In other words, he could sense the faint energy within his body!

As if struck by lightning, Link suddenly gained knowledge of sensing, training, and using superpowers, along with a sudden surge of spiritual power within him.

Although this energy couldn't even move a single strand of Fennekin'shair at the moment, with diligent training, one day it could assist the Pokémon in training and battle.

  "Fou?"

Fennekin also woke up, looking towards the distant west with sleepy eyes.

In a very, very far place, where the sun sets, someone is crying out for help, desperately seeking assistance.

It turned to look at Link, its eyes filled with confusion and bewilderment.

  What was going on?

"What a strange coincidence. I think I might know the reason."

Link pondered, after the initial joy, he roughly guessed the origin of this knowledge and power.

"That's Calyrex, the legendary king who ruled Chaldea in ancient times. Now that I'm here, let's restore its life ahead of time.

" "Fou, our travel plans have changed. Once we gain the ability to protect ourselves, we'll immediately head to Chaldea... the Crown Snowfield in the Galar region."

Since we're going to Galar, perhaps it's time to adjust the planned team composition.

Without skill slot restrictions, shouldn't we find one from the following to pair with a Sunny Day team: Troll, Brimwyn, Indeedee, or Duraludon?

  A pseudo-legendary?

Just a mediocre character born into a 4-skill turn-based system, relying on base stat distribution to deal damage!
