Chapter 87 - Chapter 87: Earned,Not Given

Chapter 87: Earned, Not Given

(Jay Jay's POV)

The kiss didn't end quickly.

It lingered.

Soft at first.

Then deeper.

Like everything we held back for days—

Weeks—

Finally breaking loose.

Keifer's hand slid to my waist, pulling me closer, like he was afraid I'd disappear if he let go.

Jay (murmuring):

"…you fixed it."

Keifer didn't pull away.

Keifer (low):

"I told you I would."

His voice—

Still slightly breathless.

Still close.

Too close.

I could feel his heartbeat.

Fast.

Jay:

"You only did it for the kisses."

Keifer smirked against my lips.

Keifer:

"Don't ruin the moment."

Jay:

"I'm serious."

Keifer:

"So am I."

He pulled back just enough to look at me.

And that look?

Dangerous.

Not angry.

Not cold.

Just…

intense.

Keifer:

"I did it for you."

My breath hitched.

Because suddenly—

It wasn't teasing anymore.

It was real.

Jay (soft):

"…good answer."

He didn't smile.

Not this time.

Instead—

He leaned in again.

This kiss?

Different.

Slower.

Heavier.

Like he was taking his time.

Like he wasn't rushing anything anymore.

And honestly?

That made it worse.

Because every second felt longer.

Every touch felt stronger.

His fingers tightened slightly at my waist.

Pulling me even closer.

Jay (breath catching):

"Keifer…"

Keifer (low, near my ear):

"You have no idea how hard that was."

Jay:

"What?"

Keifer:

"Not touching you."

My cheeks warmed instantly.

Jay:

"…you're dramatic."

Keifer:

"You made it dramatic."

Jay:

"I made you better."

Keifer:

"You made me suffer."

Jay smirked slightly.

Jay:

"You survived."

Keifer leaned closer again.

Keifer (quiet, teasing):

"Barely."

And before I could respond—

He kissed me again.

But this time—

His hand slid from my waist to my back—

Slow.

Careful.

Like he was testing boundaries.

Like he was asking without asking.

And I didn't stop him.

Didn't move away.

Because I didn't want to.

Jay (soft, teasing):

"…someone's getting confident."

Keifer:

"Someone earned it."

Jay:

"Did you?"

Keifer:

"You tell me."

I pulled back slightly.

Just enough to meet his eyes.

Jay:

"…maybe."

He narrowed his eyes.

Keifer:

"Maybe?"

Jay:

"Don't push your luck."

Keifer laughed softly.

Low.

Keifer:

"You started this."

Jay:

"I finished it."

Keifer:

"Not yet."

My heart skipped.

Jay:

"…what does that mean?"

He didn't answer immediately.

Instead—

He leaned down slightly—

Forehead resting against mine.

Close.

Warm.

Keifer (soft):

"It means…"

Pause.

Keifer:

"I'm not letting you run away again."

Jay:

"I never ran."

Keifer:

"You hide."

Jay:

"I don't hide."

Keifer:

"You do."

Silence.

Then—

Jay (quiet):

"…not from you."

That stopped him.

Completely.

Keifer softened.

Just a little.

Keifer:

"Good."

And this time—

When he kissed me again—

It wasn't teasing.

It wasn't playful.

It was steady.

Certain.

Like everything between us had finally—

Settled.

(Keifer's POV)

She doesn't realize what she did.

Not really.

She thinks this was about kisses.

About teasing.

About control.

But it wasn't.

It was about fixing something I thought was already gone.

And she made me face it.

Forced me to.

And now?

Now she's standing here—

Looking at me like she didn't just change everything.

Keifer (soft):

"You're dangerous."

Jay raised an eyebrow.

Jay:

"How?"

Keifer:

"You make people do things they don't want to do."

Jay:

"Correction."

She stepped closer.

Jay:

"I make people do things they need to do."

I smirked.

Keifer:

"That too."

She smiled.

And for a second—

Everything felt quiet.

Peaceful.

Then—

Jay:

"So…"

Keifer:

"So?"

Jay:

"…how many kisses do I owe you?"

I blinked.

Then laughed.

Keifer:

"Now you're negotiating?"

Jay:

"I'm being fair."

Keifer:

"You weren't fair before."

Jay:

"I was effective."

Keifer:

"You're impossible."

Jay:

"You love it."

Keifer:

"…unfortunately."

She smiled again.

And this time—

I didn't hold back.

I pulled her closer.

Not rough.

Not rushed.

Just sure.

Because for the first time in a long time—

There was nothing unfinished between us.

Chapter Moral ✦

Love isn't just about sweet moments—it's about pushing each other to grow.

The strongest relationships aren't the easiest ones;

they're the ones where both people are willing to face discomfort, confront the past, and become better together.

Sometimes, love challenges you.

Sometimes, it tests you.

But when it's real—

it always brings you back stronger than before.
