(Jay Jay's POV)
Two down.
Percy.
Yuri.
Two conversations.
Two steps forward.
But the air still felt… unfinished.
Because we both knew—
There was one more.
Jay (softly):
"…Aries."
Keifer didn't respond immediately.
He was standing by the window.
Looking out at the city.
But I knew—
He wasn't seeing it.
Keifer:
"…he's the hardest."
Jay:
"I know."
Keifer:
"He hates me."
Jay:
"He's hurt."
Keifer:
"Same thing."
Jay stepped closer.
Jay:
"No."
Keifer turned slightly.
Jay:
"It's not the same."
Silence.
Jay:
"Hate pushes people away."
Pause.
Jay:
"Hurt… waits."
That made him look at me fully.
Keifer:
"…and if he doesn't want to fix it?"
Jay:
"Then you respect that."
Keifer:
"And if I mess it up?"
Jay smirked slightly.
Jay:
"Then you try again."
Keifer sighed.
Keifer:
"You make everything sound simple."
Jay:
"It's not simple."
Pause.
Jay:
"It's just necessary."
Silence.
Then—
Keifer:
"…where is he?"
Jay:
"Gym."
Keifer blinked.
Keifer:
"…of course he is."
Jay:
"He punches things when he's emotional."
Keifer:
"…that explains a lot."
Jay smiled slightly.
Jay:
"Go."
Keifer:
"…now?"
Jay:
"Yes."
Keifer:
"You're not coming?"
Jay shook her head.
Jay:
"This is your fight."
Silence.
Keifer nodded slowly.
Keifer:
"…okay."
And just like that—
The final step began.
(Keifer's POV — Gym)
The sound hit first.
Punch.
Punch.
Punch.
Heavy.
Relentless.
Like anger had a rhythm.
I walked in.
And there he was.
Aries.
Gloves on.
Sweat dripping.
Eyes locked on the punching bag like it had done something personal.
Keifer (quietly):
"…still hitting things, huh?"
Punch.
He didn't stop.
Aries:
"Leave."
Straight.
Cold.
Keifer:
"No."
Punch.
Aries:
"I said leave."
Keifer:
"And I said no."
That made him stop.
Slowly—
He turned.
And the look in his eyes?
Yeah.
Jay was right.
Not hate.
Hurt.
Deep.
Raw.
Aries:
"…you've got nerve."
Keifer:
"I've got things to say."
Aries ripped off his gloves.
Threw them aside.
Aries:
"Say them fast."
Keifer:
"I was wrong."
Silence.
Aries blinked.
Once.
Aries:
"…what?"
Keifer:
"I believed something I shouldn't have."
Aries laughed.
Bitter.
Aries:
"Wow. Took you long enough."
Keifer:
"I know."
Aries:
"You believed him over me."
Keifer:
"I did."
Aries stepped closer.
Aries:
"You think saying 'I was wrong' fixes that?"
Keifer:
"No."
Aries:
"Then why are you here?"
That question again.
But this time—
The answer felt clearer.
Keifer:
"…because I don't want to leave things like this."
Aries scoffed.
Aries:
"You already did."
Keifer:
"I know."
Silence.
Aries:
"You disappeared."
Keifer:
"I didn't know how to face you."
Aries:
"So you didn't."
Keifer:
"Yeah."
Aries shook his head.
Aries:
"Coward."
Keifer didn't react.
Because he wasn't wrong.
Keifer:
"Yeah."
That made Aries pause.
Because he expected a fight.
Not agreement.
Keifer:
"I should've been there."
Aries:
"You weren't."
Keifer:
"I should've believed you."
Aries:
"You didn't."
Keifer:
"I should've fixed it sooner."
Aries:
"You didn't."
Silence.
Heavy.
Then—
Keifer:
"…but I'm here now."
Aries looked at me.
Long.
Searching.
Aries:
"…why?"
And for the first time—
I didn't hesitate.
Keifer:
"Because she told me no kisses for two months."
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Then—
Aries:
"…you're joking."
Keifer:
"I wish I was."
Aries stared.
Then—
He laughed.
Actually laughed.
Aries:
"That's the dumbest reason I've ever heard."
Keifer:
"Yeah."
Aries:
"And you came here because of that?"
Keifer:
"…no."
Pause.
Keifer:
"I stayed because of that."
Aries went quiet.
Completely.
Because that—
That was the truth.
Keifer:
"I came here because I don't want to lose this anymore."
Silence.
Aries looked away.
Ran a hand through his hair.
Aries:
"…you really messed up."
Keifer:
"I know."
Aries:
"You really hurt me."
Keifer:
"I know."
Aries:
"…I'm not over it."
Keifer:
"I don't expect you to be."
Silence.
Then—
Aries:
"…but I'm tired."
Keifer frowned slightly.
Aries:
"Tired of being angry."
Keifer didn't speak.
Aries:
"Tired of carrying it."
Pause.
Aries:
"…so don't mess it up again."
And just like that—
The last wall—
Cracked.
Not gone.
But cracked.
Keifer:
"I won't."
Aries pointed at him.
Aries:
"You better not."
Keifer nodded.
Keifer:
"I won't."
Silence.
Then—
Aries:
"…and tell her she's insane."
Keifer smirked.
Keifer:
"She knows."
(Jay Jay's POV — Ending)
I was pacing.
Which I never do.
Okay—
I do.
But not this much.
Jay:
"…he should be back by now."
I checked my phone.
Nothing.
Jay:
"…Keifer."
The door opened.
I froze.
He walked in.
Same expression.
Calm.
But his eyes—
Different.
Lighter.
Jay:
"…well?"
He looked at me.
Long.
Then—
Keifer:
"I fixed it."
My heart stopped.
Jay:
"…all of it?"
Keifer:
"Not perfect."
Pause.
Keifer:
"But… better."
That was enough.
More than enough.
I walked toward him slowly.
Step by step.
Close.
Very close.
Jay (soft):
"That means…"
Keifer:
"Don't even think about it."
I smiled.
Jay:
"Two months are over?"
Keifer:
"…I did everything."
Jay:
"You did."
Pause.
Then—
I leaned in.
Slowly.
Very slowly.
His breath hitched.
Keifer:
"Jay…"
Jay:
"You earned it."
And finally—
After everything—
I kissed him.
Soft.
Slow.
Real.
And this time—
It wasn't just a kiss.
It was a promise.
