Chapter 36 - “The Engagement Celebration”

The hall was decorated in soft fairy lights, pastel drapes, and fresh flowers. The scent of roses and jasmine floated in the air, mixing with quiet chatter. Colleagues, friends, and family had gathered to celebrate Anna and Oliver's engagement — a union everyone had waited for silently, unknowingly.

Anna stepped into the hall, her hand gently holding Oliver's. She wore a simple yet elegant gown — white with soft lavender accents — that complemented her radiant smile. Oliver's eyes, sharp and confident as ever, softened the moment they met hers.

"You look beautiful," he whispered, leaning close.

She smiled, a blush rising. "And you clean up well, CEO style."

He chuckled, squeezing her hand. "Only for you."

The evening began with greetings and small talk. Sophia and Emily hovered nearby, beaming at their friend.

"We're so proud of you," Sophia said softly. "You finally have your happy ending."

Anna laughed quietly. "You too. You've always supported me."

Oliver's family, warm and welcoming, introduced themselves to Anna's colleagues. The air was filled with excitement, but beneath it, a subtle tension lingered. One of Oliver's business rivals, Mr. Carter, was present — smiling politely, but his eyes calculating every detail.

During the speeches, Oliver stood and spoke first.

"Thank you all for being here," he began, voice calm yet strong. "Anna and I… we've waited a long time to reach this moment. Ten years ago, we were just two kids with silent feelings. Today, I promise to choose her, every single day, for the rest of our lives."

Anna's heart swelled. She looked at him, eyes glistening, and whispered softly, "And I promise the same."

As the music started and the first dance approached, Oliver led her to the center of the floor. Their eyes locked.

"You know," he murmured, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear, "I can't believe we're finally here."

"Neither can I," she replied, leaning into him gently.

The music played softly around them, but for Anna and Oliver, nothing else existed. Hands intertwined, bodies close, hearts synchronized.

And then, as if the universe wanted to mark the moment, Oliver pressed a soft, lingering kiss on her forehead.

"I've waited so long for this," he whispered.

"And I've waited for you," she replied, her voice barely audible, but her smile brighter than any spotlight.

Even as the evening continued, applause and laughter filling the hall, they stayed wrapped in their private world. Every touch, every glance was a silent promise — one that no one could interrupt.

Outside, Mr. Carter observed quietly, frowning slightly. The rivalry had only just begun.

But inside the hall, Anna and Oliver didn't notice.

All that mattered was this — finally, after ten years, their love had a celebration. Their story had a chapter they had both earned.

And for the first time in a decade, nothing felt incomplete. 💙✨
