Chapter 2 - CH-2 : The Birth Of A Miracle Child!

Vedha: The Protector of Dharma (Part 1)

This legend begins approximately 200 years after Lord Shri Krishna returned to Vaikuntha Dham. It was a serene day; the sun shone brightly, a gentle breeze whispered through the trees, and lotus flowers bloomed atop a tranquil pond where fish danced beneath the surface. Suddenly, a radiant, shimmering fish appeared near the shore. A passing traveler, stopping to quench his thirst, was struck by its mystical glow. Before he could react, the creature vanished into the depths.

In the kingdom of Aryavarta, King Harshvardhan sat in his royal court, his heart heavy with sorrow. "I havesiempre upheld the path of Dharma," he lamented. "I have never punished the innocent, nor allowed malice to enter my heart. I have committed no sin-so why am I cursed with childlessness?"

The Royal Priest, Bhaskaracharya, offered words of solace: "O King, be calm. Everything unfolds according to the divine play of the Almighty." From behind the veil, Queen Vasundhara added, "Rajpurohit, I have worshiped Lord Vishnu with all my heart for ten long years. Why does He remain silent to my prayers?"

Just then, the traveler, a merchant named Satyavaan, approached the throne. "Your Majesty, thirty kos from here lies a sacred pond. Within it dwells a divine fish, as large as a woman,a divine fish, as large as a woman, emitting a celestial radiance." Intrigued, the King vowed to see this marvel for himself the following day.

Upon arriving at the pond, the King's eyes widened with hope as he spotted the golden fish. He felt in his soul that this miracle might finally grant him an heir. However, despite his best efforts, the fish eluded him. He returned the next day with 2,000 soldiers, ordering them to surround the water. Yet, the divine creature remained out of reach.

The King persisted for 108 days, arriving with the first ray of dawn and leaving only at sunset. Moved by his unwavering devotion, Lord Vishnu appeared in his dreams. "O King," the Lord commanded, "go to the pondalone at dawn, barefoot and humble. After your bath, sit in deep meditation and chant 'Jai Shree Hari' 108 times.

Only then shall you succeed."

The King followed the divine instructions perfectly. As his final chant echoed across the water, a blinding light erupted from the pond. The golden fish surfaced and spoke: "O King, today the dream you have held for a decade shall be fulfilled." The fish opened its mouth, and a newborn infant emerged from its throat, gliding through the air into the King's waiting arms.

As the fish's scales turned to a brilliant silver, it spoke one last time: "This is no ordinary child. He is an essence of Shri Hari himself. Two centuries ago, whena

hunter's arrow struck Lord Krishna, a

single drop of His divine blood fell into

my mouth. That drop has kept me alive

for 200 years to deliver this child to

you. He is immortal; he shall never age

and cannot be slain. But heed my

warning: his life will be a lonely one. Like

the Seven Chiranjeevis-Ashwathama,

Mahabali, Vyasa, Hanuman, Vibhishana,

Kripacharya, and Parashurama-he will

witness the world change while he

remains the same."

The fish concluded, "Name him Veerbhadra, for like Shri Hari, he shall be the invincible destroyer of evil." With those words, the fish vanished.

Clutching the divine child to his chest, the King began his journey back to his kingdom.
