Life can be brutal at some points. Everyone wants to have someone they could tell everything to, someone who they think will support them in their ups and downs of life. I had always wanted a best friend too.
People say some friendships are meant to last.
I used to think that.
Then I couldn't imagine a day where we wouldn't laugh at the same jokes share secrets or walk home together after school. If someone told me we'd become strangers I would've laughed. It seemed impossible.
Life has a way of proving you wrong.
The funny thing is friendships don't always end with a fight. Sometimes they just fade away. A missed conversation becomes a habit. A cancelled plan becomes normal. Messages get shorter. Laughs become less frequent. One day you realize you're holding on to memories more than the person.
I still remember when we thought nothing could separate us.
Sometimes I wonder if you remember too.
There are moments when I see a picture, a forgotten message or hear a song we used to listen to and for a second it feels like nothing has changed. Then reality sets in. I remember how much time has passed.
It's strange how someone who once knew every detail about your life can become someone you don't know how to talk to.
I spent a time asking myself what went wrong. Was it something I said? Something I didn't say?. Was it just life pulling us apart?
I don't know if there's one answer.
Maybe that's why I'm writing this.
Not to blame anyone.
Not to make anyone feel guilty.
Because some stories deserve to be remembered even if they don't have a happy ending.
