"Are you gonna eat that?" Silas asked Alice as he watched her play with the apple.
Alice looked at him, smiled and reached out, handing him the apple.
"Here, I wasn't very hungry, I had a big breakfast."
Silas took the apple and took a big bite. As he was chewing he felt a pair of eyes on him. He turned his attention and saw Alice looking at him with her head leaned on her hand.
"What?"
Alice smiled.
"Nothing, you were just cute chewing it like that."
Silas raised his eyebrows, he was surprised at her bluntness.
The rest of the Cullens observed this scene in silence, then they all started to exchange glances.
"Thanks I guess."
Alice chuckled.
Before they could lose themselves on the occasion the lunch break ended.
Now it was time for… biology.
Let's see if that girl is as sad as portrayed by the Cullens… or if she's just some pervert.
He walked out of the cafeteria and made his way towards his locker. He grabbed his stuff and started to make his way towards the biology classroom.
As he was walking through a courtyard to make his way towards the biology classroom, he didn't have to, but he wanted some fresh air.
He was lost in thought as he walked, just then he heard something.
He looked over and saw Kate, she was standing with some girls, but the conversation did not seem pleasant.
He raised an eyebrow and watched the scene unfold.
"Hey Kate, have you finished the math homework for this week?" One of the girls asked.
"Yeah, we would need to borrow it for a little while, you'll get it back." Another girl followed up.
Kate lowered her head.
"No. I was planning to do it tonight…"
The girls put on displeased expressions.
"Hey! Then we won't have time to copy before we need to hand it in."
"Why don't you skip biology and do the math homework instead?" A girl said with a slight smile.
"No… I need to hel…"
"Wait! Doesn't she have biology with the new kid? You know the really handsome one?"
"Yeah. Hey Kate, I heard you sit beside him, no?"
They looked at each other and then chuckled.
"So that's why you don't want to skip biology, I wouldn't either."
"The new guy probably wants to copy off her, if we make her skip, won't he lose out?"
"Yeah… can't have the new handsome guy lose out."
They were so lost in their mockery they didn't notice Silas appear behind them.
"You guys aren't very photogenic."
The girls turned around in surprise.
"Who?"
Silas was standing there, looking at the low resolution video he had just filmed of the girl's conversation with Kate.
You could barely hear their conversation and the video was grainy… but it was more than possible to see what was going on and who was in it.
"You… you filmed us?" The girl asked with shock and confusion mixed.
"Yeah, you were bullying my friend here, what did you think was gonna happen?"
The girls looked at each other.
"Your friend? New guy, if you wanna copy off her, you don't need to play her friend."
Silas moved his phone between his fingers.
"Only smooth-brained idiots like you who can't think for themselves need to copy off others."
The girls frowned in displeasure. One of them was more angry than the others.
"Are you calling us stupid?"
Silas looked at her with pity.
"Just that you need to ask that, proves my point."
The girls were fuming, then they looked at their idiot friend who had lined them up so perfectly. What a pig teammate.
Silas looked at them then said.
"You are going to stop asking to copy Kate, and leave her alone, or I will show the whole school how stupid you are, that you can't even do your own homework."
The girls looked at each other, then glared at Kate, and finally they looked resentfully at Silas.
"Fine." They said in unison.
Then they started to walk away. They were expressing their dissatisfaction as they walked, mumbling to each other, just loud enough to hear.
Silas frowned in displeasure.
Then he looked at Kate who was looking at him in surprise.
"Hello there deskmate, are you ready for biology?" Silas smiled slightly.
Kate came out of her stupor and nodded.
"Yes."
Silas nodded in satisfaction, then looked at her in anticipation.
Kate saw this and her face fell. He may be very handsome, and he even helped her… but didn't he still want to copy in the end? The kindness, it was all just for show.
"Here."
Silas looked at the notebook Kate was trying to hand him. He ignored it and said.
"Aren't you gonna thank me?"
Kate looked at him then hurriedly said.
"Thank you for helping me."
Silas nodded, it feels good to be the good guy.
"Let's go, we got biology." He said as he walked past her.
Kate was shocked but hurriedly put away her notebook and followed behind him.
But as they walked she looked troubled over something.
Silas noticed and asked.
"What are you frowning over?"
She hesitated, then steeled herself.
"You aren't gonna show that video to anyone, right?" She asked embarrassedly.
Silas raised his eyebrow and said.
"Not as long as they hold up their end of the bargain."
Kate lowered her head and whispered, barely audible.
"It's just kinda embarrassing, getting bullied like that."
Silas shook his head.
"There is nothing embarrassing about being a victim, plus that they wanna copy off you just shows that you are smart."
Kate looked at him in surprise then lowered her head in thought. Then she looked up at him and said.
"Ok, but please don't show it to anyone unless necessary."
Silas smiled.
"Promise."
As they came to an agreement they arrived at the classroom.
They walked in and sat down in their seats. It didn't take long for the rest of the students to arrive.
Silas was sitting there, looking out the window, then he looked towards the door and saw Bella arrive. She looked towards her desk like a lost puppy. Edward wasn't here today.
Just then he heard a whisper.
"Do you like that girl?" It was Kate.
"I saw you watch her yesterday as well."
Silas looked over then shook his head.
"No, it's just her interaction with that Edward guy is just too funny. Didn't you see yesterday?"
Kate shook her head like a rattle.
Silas smiled.
"Then you need to watch when he returns and you will get what I mean."
Kate nodded.
