A few days later the school year properly began, all of this years students filling into the classroom, the different dorms obvious due to the different colored uniforms that they were wearing, the phoenix house wearing red, the kraken house wearing blue, the huanlong house wearing yellow and the pegasus house wearing green
The exception to this was children from noble families that only wore a badge representing the house that they were from and their clothing showing their families colors such as Azura who was wearing a royal blue uniform with a phoenix pin on her chest, taking her place with the other nobles out of duty
An elderly man stood at the front of the class and adressed the students "Greetings class, today is the first day of the school year and as such we will be going over the basics of magic and handing out training manuals, the nobles in the class are exempt from this lesson as they will have been taught the basics since a young age and the training manuals that you will have been given by your families will be better than the ones we can provide"
Hearing this a majority of the noble students got up and left, their heads held high with pride as they walked past the few commoners that had managed to make it into the school, sneering at them as they went, after a while Azura was the only noble left in the classroom
"Ms Inferno are you sure you wish to stay for this, I am sure that with your level of education that there is very little that I could teach you" asked the teacher
"My father has always said to use every oppurtunity to get stronger and that being taught the same thing by another person can give a completely different perspective, as such even if I have been told this before I believe it will benefit me to hear it again" she answered with a noble voice
"A praiseworthy state of mind to have" nodded the teacher "it seems that it was only natural that you were the top scorer in this years tests"
"Thank you sir" replied Azura
"Then for the rest of you we shall begin the lesson" proclaimed the teacher clapping his hands causing the books on his table to levitate towards the students "these training manuals are now yours to read through, they will be multiple times better than the free manuals that are given out to anyone with magic but compared to the ones that noble families have they are still bottom of the barrel" he informed the students as the books landed on the desks in front of them
Dave quickly skimmed through the first page and realised that the teachers words weren't a lie, already able to tell how much faster he would be able to increase his blue energy using the methods contained within
"These books are attributeless training methods, the library contains books that will be more suited to your own personal attributes but you will have to figure out which ones work for you best, a prime example of this is ms Inferno, she could use any fire type training method but the one that her family will have provided her will be specified for her Azura flames and as such she will gain twice the results for half the effort" the teacher explained
"That would explain why Azura didn't share her training methods with me even though they would be more effective than the methods that I have" thought Dave
"But be warned, not all manuals will work depending on your element, for example a fire magician training using a water manual would not only make it more difficult to increase their energy but could also cause damage to your body if you try to force anything" the teacher warned the class
"That lines up with what dad told me when I first arrived in this world" Dave thought "my dad told me that low class techniques have a low chance of causing problems, does this mean that high class techniques have a higher chance of causing problems?" he asked
"An excellent question" praised the teacher "the answer to which is yes, the more powerful a training method the more specific the requirements to be able to practice it there will be, going back to ms Inferno I'm guessing that it is a method that can only be trained by those of your bloodline or those who can produce azura flames like your family can"
"That is correct sir, both of those requirements are necessary to train in the method that my family has created over many generations, as such it has become one of the most powerful training techniques but very few can actually practice it and as such we have no fear of outsiders learning of our training methods as by following them they would only be hurting themselves" proclaimed Azura
"Thank you for your explanation" expressed the teacher "now, for the rest of the lesson I will be going over the contents of the training manual and you may ask any questions that you may have about it, start with the basics and always going over them is the best way to becoming a truely powerful magician" he said to the class before turning to the blackboard, holding the manual in his hand as he wrote, the sound of notes being made coming from the students as the first lesson truely began.
