Chapter 1 - Chapter One

Brianna throws her hands up. At this point she was fuming angrily.

"No, Dad. I am not going to marry Julian King. He is annoying and rude and sure as hell not worth my time!" She exclaimed.

Brianna's father, Elias frowned at her. "Well, too late. You would have to tolerate him."

Brianna stared at her father in disbelief. You can't be serious, right?" She turned to her Mother. "Mom, say something."

Her mother, Rhea let out a sigh standing up from her seat as she walked to her daughter, placing her hand on her shoulder.

"Brie baby. I understand you, but you have to understand your Dad too. Julian would be good for you. He has the most successful corporations around the world, and most of all, he loves you. He would take care of you."

She gave her a reassured smile.

Brianna just stood frozen, disbelief written all over her features. She couldn't believe her mother, a woman, was okay with marrying her daughter off to a man they hardly know.

"No please. Anyone else but that egotistic idiot. Brianna pleaded through clenched teeth but her pleas fell on deaf ears as her father walked towards her, hands pointed to her face.

"Accept it or not. I don't care but when the time comes you would walk down that alter. Now you can go down willingly or I can drag you down kicking and screaming." And with that he stormed out of the house.

Brie could not believe any of this. She felt mortified. She felt her mother squeeze her shoulder but she angrily shrugged her hand off, glaring at her before stomping up the stairs to her bedroom.

"There is no way in hell, I'm agreeing to marry that...that rude, possessive, son of bitch." Brianna spat angrily as she paced the length of her bedroom, thinking of something... anything to get he out of this marriage. And all of a sudden, an idea struck her. She stopped pacing as her lips curl into a smirk.

They can only make me marry him if they can find me. She muttered, rushing to her closet. She packed the essential clothes she needed before slowly sneaking downstairs.

She looked and right. Her heart thumping in her chest. If she gets caught, her father will lock her up in the mansion—Rapunzel style, and she couldn't allow that.

She successfully sneaked toward the main door. She punched in the code, just about to open it, when a sharp sound broke the silence.

Access granted, the AI announced aloud.

Brianna froze, cursing under her breath as footsteps echoed from the lounge.

Moving with a speed that surprised even her, she slipped through the front door and didn't stop until she reached the garage. She ducked behind her father's Range Rover just as the footsteps entered the garage, her heart pounding in her chest.

The person stopped at the door of the garage, looking around but never really entering. After what felt like hours. They turned and left, closing the garage door behind them.

Brianna let out a sigh as she raised her head to peep, making sure whoever it was had gone before stepping out.

"That was close." She muttered, tiptoeing to her Lamborghini. She put her luggage in the car first before starting the engine, silently praying her parents were already asleep in their bedroom and that the bodyguards are no where close to the garage.

By some miracle her prayers were answered giving her enough time to drive out of the house.

"Yes!"

Brianna exclaimed with excitement as she sped down the quiet road. Now her parents could not force her to marry some arrogant douchebag.

Atleast that's what she thought.

********

"Ding dong." Brianna pressed the doorbell of her friend's house, hoping she was in tonight.

"Coming." She grumbled.

After a while, the front door flung open to reveal Brianna's best friend, Andrea.

It took Andrea sometime to comprehend who was standing on her front porch. As she was already asleep before Andrea came.

"Brie." She mumbled, her voice heavy with sleep. "What in the name of flying donkeys are you doing here."

Brianna just sent her a sheepish smile as she opened the front door wide enough for her to get in.

"I'm so sorry for disturbing your sleep Andy but it was urgent." Brianna entered the house flopping on one of the sofas. Andrea sighed shaking her head as she locked her door before walking over to her best friend.

"Yeah, it must be really serious for you to have your luggage with you?" She grumbled folding her arms on her chest. Are you gonna tell me what this "Urgent thing" is all about or should I call your parents." Andrea threatened. She's always been the voice of reason between the two friends.

"No no wait." Brianna almost screamed, eyes widening as she almost jumped off the sofa.

"Don't call them."

"Then explain to me why you showed up at my house at almost midnight."

Brianna looked down at her finger, cursing slightly before dropping her shoulders in defeat.

"Fine." She grind out. "but promise not to interru—"

"Babe?" A voice came from the top of the stairs.

Andrea let out a grumble. She had completely forgotten her girlfriend was upstairs "Yeah babe. I'm down here." She shouted.

"You have someone over?" Brianna whisper shouted, leaning towards Andrea, making her roll her eyes.

"It's my girlfriend, Calla. You idiot." Andrea muttered, ignoring her friend as she turned her attention towards the stairs.

"Hey Brie." Calla greeted coming down the stairs. She was a 6 foot lady with tattoos littered all over her arms. She had a body frame that would make any man think twice before trying to pick a fight with her, and she was drop dead gorgeous. If Brianna wasn't straight and if Calla wasn't already dating her best friend. She probably would have tried her luck with her.

"What are you doing here so late?" She asked walking over to sit beside her girlfriend.

Brianna shrugged. "I ran away from home." She blurted, causing Andrea and Calla's eyes to widen as they turn towards her at the same time.

"What!!"

"Are you dumb or something. Why the Fuck would you do that?" Andrea glared at her, voice sharp.

"Wait, hear me out first."

"I ran away from home because my parents are planning to marry me off, and not just to anyone but to Julian King!!. That arrogant, possessive jerk!" Brianna breathed heavily, anger etched in her features.

"Wow." Andrea breathed, unable to believe what she just heard. "In the 21st century?"

"I know, right?" Andrea threw her hands up, happy that someone else can see things from her own point of view. "But I don't care what they want. I sure as hell I'm not marrying that douchebag."

Andre nodded still lost in confusion. She was no sidekick but she knew how much Brianna's parents loved and adored their daughter. They would not just try to marry her off without a reason.

If only her best friend wasn't too angry to think about that.
